"The Problem with Map Games", For old people in the wiki, that title will be boring and old, tons of people have talked about "the problem with map games" in a blog before, its nothing new.

HOWEVER! the title is somewhat clickbait, as there is only one active map game, and it has been that way for a couple of months. I am of course talking about Konig des Menschen Chapter V (Map Game). So instead of complaining about how map games are shit now and how map games were better 6 - 3 years ago, I'm going to talk about why I don't like KdM, mostly because of grudges and my expirience with KdM, so obvious disclamer: This is just my opinion and you're welcome to have you're own and even share it with me because I want to hear different versions of people expiriences.

I want to start by saying that I'm a pretty old member of the "mapping community", not as old as someone like Batran or Ethan, but even if I used my original account, 75% of users wouldn't really know me, but this is besides the point. Lets get to what I want to say after 3 paragraphs of introductions.

My main issue with KdM is that I find it too uncreative, I mean sure, Wakanda is a people group in the game and Mobamba is a nation, the game also has some original nations too. But most of these were created between KdM 1 - 3? (Or 1 - 2, not sure, idk the whole history). Since then, there hasn't been anything new. It feels less like Alternate History and more like just plain old history. Which is fine to an extent, but it doesn't really give players many options. For example, who's to say that a nomadic horde from Mali couldn't have conquered most of Africa and then tried to invade Europe (Yes I am talking about African Mongols, I'm not trying to say that this should've happened, it shouldn't have tbh because of the terrain, but thats besides the point). When you add specific historical events, like the Mongol invasion of Europe, it makes it less like alternate history. Instead of the mongols, perhaps another tribe from the game would've been more interesting. I'm not saying the game is bad, because its not, but the fact that you can't do crazy shit (obviously not like super crazy shit, but like... small crazy shit) really makes people not want to play the game, atleast it happened to me, and I don't think that what I wanted to do with my nation was too unrealistic, what was unrealistic was my lore, which I feel as if it would have made it unique, and didn't actually affect the realism of the nation's gameplay.

But thats just my (butthurt) opinion, despite criticizing it I might play KdM later on, since I actually like the concept and would like to give it another go.
