Lappeenmäa, also spelled Lappeenmää, is the 2nd most populous and 2nd most densely populated of the Tävakarelian mäasuutanu, as well as being the 2nd smallest. Its esokäpuunko is Lappeenranta, which is also the capital city and 2nd largest city in the country, with a population of 71,422

Tourism[]

The region is the country's easiest region to get to, thanks to the easy road connections from Finland and Helsinki, and thanks to Lappeenranta Airport, the busiest airport in the country. Tourists often come to the region to see the capital city of Lappeenranta and for the Imatrankoski rapids, as well as for the Salpa Line fortifications and the southern part of the Lake Saima.

The region of Säavu elects 12 out of 43 delegates to the Pärlikuunto, and 4 out of 14 delegates to the Sinäat. The most popular political parties in the region are Tiioviin Püulo, Viiräalinkkiti and Konservatarii coming in at 35%, 34% and 15% in the regional elections respectively.
