The Hatin Order (HA-tin ohr-der) or more commonly referred to as Hatinburg (HAT-in berg) is a nation created by Mista Chris. This nation replaced the Germo-Burgundian Commonwealth as one of Mista Chris's official nations.

Early History[]

The history of Hatinburg started in the year 1699, when the city of Hatinburg was founded. The city was named after the Swiss general Kristopher Hatin, who had lead the Swiss forces to victory in the area around the Rhine against some small German states. People started moving away from the Alps to this city and the area around the Rhine, and the Swiss and German cultures mixed to create the Hatish culture. In 1759, the People of the Hatinburg region rebelled against the Swiss government. Spain then decided to invade Switzerland. The Republic of Hatinburg was born, with Hatin as the ruler. Under his rule, the country and cities became very wealthy, and many surrounding countries became jealous of this wealth. Finally in 1775, the French invaded Hatinburg. The French were held back for about 5 months where they starved and were constantly bombarded by artillery. The French finally overwhelmed the defenses in the Alps, and the Hatish lines collapsed. Hatinburg became an autonomous region of France, with the people wishing for independence.

Geography[]

The southern part of Hatinburg is mostly mountainous, as it is in the Alps. The rest of the country is either hilly or flat(ish).

Demographics[]

Ethnicity[]

Most of the population, about 87%, recognizes as Hatic or Swiss. Another 10% recognize as German, and the last 3% include French, Austrian, Italian, Sentrak, and other ethnicities. French is the smallest and most hated ethnicity in the country, mostly because of history, and are usually attacked in crowded streets. Hatic people don't like Italians either, but not as much as their hatred for the French. Austrians, Sentraks, and Germans are good in the eyes of the Hatics, and will most likely be aided if being attacked.

Religion[]

Most of the people in Hatinburg (79%) are either Methodist or Baptist, mostly because the government wants everyone to be either of these. Another 10% are Catholic. 1% are Lutheran, mostly because of WWII. In WWII, Nazis took power in Hatinburg. These Nazis were Catholic, and these were very extremist Catholics that hated Lutherans. They killed off most of the Lutheran population, and most of the Lutherans today live in the Alps where they hid. The other 10% are other religions, most are atheist and deist.

World War I[]

In WWI, Swiss forces made a deal with the French. If the French gave Switzerland former Hatic lands (which included Alsace-Lorraine) in the peace treaty, Switzerland would help France. The Swiss joined right after they got the agreement in October 1917, and were able to drive the German forces over the Rhine. A descendant of General Hatin took back Hatinburg in early 1918, which boosted Swiss moral. Switzerland reformed to become Hatinburg, and renamed Hatinburg to Hatin City. That change did not stick. Hatinburg got many former Hatic lands in the Treaty of Munich, where the German Kaiser was trapped during a trip. Shortly after the war however, there was a 3 year long war where the French tried to take the lands they had given to the Swiss. The French succeeded, but they didn't get Alsace-Lorraine.

1927[]

1927 is a very important year for the Hatic people because this is when they made their official language. The language was not given an official name though, so it was mostly referred to as The Hatic Language or The Tongue of Hatin. In 1931, it was given a name. This language was mostly based off of English, as the leader at the time (who was a descendant of Hatin) was obsessed with English. The language is basically English with different spellings.

"OH MY GOD I MADE A LANGUAGE" would be "ö MI GOD I MAD A LANGWIIJ

The Great Depression[]

The Great Depression severely damaged the Hatic economy, and the mark still shows today. Luckily, in 1930, a new leader named Kevin Chip took power. Chip gave the language its own name (he named it after himself). He called it Chipanian, which didn't really get him a lot of support in the country. He changed the country to a social democracy, which actually healed the economy a little. By December, he had begun propaganda campaigns to raise support and raise moral. Finally in 1931, a vote passed through the new "Rhine Council" (which had been created with the transition to Social Democracy) that made Chipanian the official name of the language. Hatinburg was able to survive the Great Depression, but their economy has still not yet recovered fully.

World War II[]

Hatinburg fought in WWII starting in 1939. Nazis had taken over, and allied with Germany. As the Germans killed the Jews, the Nazi leader in Hatinburg decided to try to kill all Lutherans. By the end of the war, the Lutherans had gone from 10% of the population to 1% of the population, and most of them lived in the Alps. In the war, Hatinburg was able to take over southern France and French Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia. As the Germans invaded the USSR, Hatic forces defended Africa and made sure the British didn't cross the channel. The Hatic engineers in the war became famous for their incredible designs and how well they worked. They started to get pushed back in 1942 because of Operation Sealion. They were able to get a foothold, but they had lost most of their men on the beaches. They were actually able to take London, but finally American troops arrived and swarmed the Hatic army. They were pushed back across the channel in December 1942, and they began trying to replenish. In 1943, it looked like the allies were going to push across the channel, so troops were pulled from Africa to support the men in France. Because of this, Africa was lost. It was too late to save Africa. After that they helped defend Italy from allied invasions, but were eventually pushed back. Finally in 1944, Allied forces pushed the Hatics out of Italy, and D-Day occurred. Fear spread all over the homeland, and a small revolution took place putting Chip back in power. Hatinburg switched sides, but they were quickly occupied by German forces. In the peace treaty they lost Alsace-Lorraine, which they got back during the Cold War. They were occupied by American forces for 10 years.

The Cold War[]

While occupying Hatinburg, US troops were constantly attacked by protesters, and this actually made the USA pull out of the country. Only a day after this, chaos broke out as people tried to take control. Finally in 1954, some liberal revolutionaries took power and (most) people accepted their rule. In 1956, the modern constitution of Hatinburg was published. The main parties political parties were created and it was agreed that STV would be used in the elections as long as more than 2 people were running. This president served until 1960 when the "New Liberals" were elected. Hatinburg became a social democracy and began expanding their military. Hatinburg began a period of neutrality, but kept some ties with both the east and west. During most of the conflicts in the Cold War, Hatinburg helped get the 2 sides together and end the conflicts. In 1970, West Germany tried to take the Rhineland. They were able to take all Hatic territories around the Rhine except Hatin City, which a force of 15,000 men held the line. The war became a stalemate only with a few advancements in Bavaria until 1973 when the USSR began flying supplies into Hatinburg and NATO told them to stop. East Germany began getting troops ready for war, and started the blockade of West Berlin again. Finally, the UN came to an agreement where West Germany took the Rhineland and a few other Hatic lands in southern Germany. In 1985, another crisis involving Hatinburg occurred. Hatic and French people in Alsace-Lorraine had begun attacking each other in the streets, and Hatic people began striking. This wouldn't have been a problem, but 84% of people in Alsace-Lorraine recognized as Hatic. Some even began making their own militias and a city was founded across the Rhine from Hatinburg City, called New Hatinburg. The Hatic government saw this city as part of Hatinburg City, so they moved troops in and built a bridge across the Rhine. The people celebrated, and some joined the Hatic army. Hatic elections then happened, in which one of the major candidates was Socialist and was leaning towards relations with the east. The other 2 major candidates were a libertarian and a Social Democrat. The Social Democrat barely won, keeping Hatinburg a Social Democracy. During the election however, French people thought that the Socialist was going to win, so they began moving out of Alsace-Lorraine. When the election finished, Hatic people made sure the French could only get out, and the UN decided there would be a vote to see who to join. Less than 1% of people there were French now, so the Hatics won by a landslide. Alsace-Lorraine joined Hatinburg. Skip to 1990. Because of the collapse of the Berlin Wall, support for the Socialist and Social Democrat parties fell by a lot, and the conservatives won the election. In 1991, Hatinburg joined NATO. After that, Hatinburg wasn't involved in conflicts until the 2000s.

Modern Times[]

Today, Hatinburg is a very wealthy nation in the EU. It is the largest economy in Europe and the EU. Hatinburg has strict immigration policies, only allowing 500 immigrants from war-torn countries like Syria in every year. The last few Hatic presidents have spoken out against the USA's violations of international law, and this caused them to leave NATO in 2009. In 2010, the Social Democrats won the election for the 6th time in a row, and sense they have 5 year terms, this president is still in power. See more about the Hatic government in the Government section. Hatinburg is pushing to kick Greece out of the EU, and wants Ukraine to join. The Hatic president believes that Crimea should be part of Ukraine but Novorossiya should be part of Russia. The election of 2015 seems to show that the Social Democrats will win again.

Government[]

Hatinburg is a Socialist Republic. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand here's more:

Central Government[]

Hatinburg's central government makes laws for the entire country, but the state governments can also make their own laws. If 75% of the state's population votes to not have a law, they will not have that law. Hatinburg has 3 branches of government in the central government: Judicial, Executive, and Legislative. The Legislative branch is called the Rhine Council, which has 2 houses: The Senate and The Council. The Council creates the laws which then go to The Senate to get approved. The Judicial branch, called the Hatic Court of Judges, then decides if the law follows the constitution. It then gets sent to the president for approval. If he vetoes it, it is then sent to The Council. If 2/3 or more of The Council agrees with the law, the veto is over ridden. Then the states vote on whether or not to have the law.

System of Government[]

The system of government that Hatinburg has is very unique, and is cleverly named "Hatic Confederacy". This system is a lot like the USA's system, but with more states' rights. If a state's government doesn't want a law to affect the state, people will vote whether or not to have it. If 75% of the population agrees, then the law will not affect the state. If a state wants to leave Hatinburg, it has a vote. If 85% of the population votes to leave, the state will leave. To represent the states, the people vote (using STV) to elect people to The Council. The state governments send their governor and the person the governor chooses to The Senate. The number representatives in The Council a state has is determined by the population of the state. The senators are chosen by the state governments.

National Anthem[]

The lyrics are based off of the song "I Wish I Was in Dixie". This one is called "I'm off to Arms in Hatin"

Lyrics: Oh, I wish I was in the land of rivers, Old times there I've not forgotten, Look away, look away, look away Hatinburg.

In Hatinburg, where I was born , early on one frosty mornin', Look away, look away, look away Hatinburg.

I'm off to arms in Hatin, Hurah! Hurah! In Hatinburg I'll take my stand to live and die in Hatin. Away, away, away up north in Hatin. Away, away, away up north in Hatin!

Ole Missus marry "Will the weaver" Willum was a gay deceiver Look away! Look away! Look away! Hatinburg

But when he put his arm around 'er, He smiled fierce as a forty pounder, Look away! Look away! Look away! Hatinburg

His face was sharp as a butcher's cleaver But that did not seem to grieve 'er Look away! Look away! Look away! Hatinburg

Ole Missus acted the foolish part And died for a man that broke her heart Look away! Look away! Look away! Hatinburg

Now here's a health to the next ole Missus An' all the gals that want to kiss us; Look away! Look away! Look away! Hatinburg

But if you want to drive 'way sorrow Come and hear this song tomorrow Look away! Look away! Look away! Hatinburg

There's buckwheat cakes and Injun batter, Makes you fat or a little fatter Look away! Look away! Look away! Hatinburg

Then hoe it down and scratch your gravel, To Hatin's Land I'm bound to travel, Look away! Look away! Look away! Hatinburg

Oh, I wish I was in the land of rivers, Old times there I've not forgotten, Look away, look away, look away Hatinburg.

Away, awaay up nooorth..... In Haaaaatiiiinnnnn.......
