Turns[]

Turn I: 1400 - 1405[]

Mod Event[]

KdM1400-1405A
  • White Snow Wolf: These were troubling times for Queen Fiete of the Scandinavian Union. While she has strengthened her realm, those from Svearike feel the most distant to the Vestkyst crown. She must find a way to appeal to them. This lesson is very important for her apprentice to learn if he somehow finds himself in a seat of power someday. But one day, a hunting incident was met with bandits attempting to rob and kill them. It is strange they risk going after the Queen. Upon interrogation, her worst fears are confirmed; the bandits turned out to be assassins sent to kill her and her apprentice to break up her realm. In anger, Morgan de Noyon, her apprentice, brutally executed each assassin. This is not the way, they might have been more useful by living so any underground movements will view her as reasonable to negotiate. After that day, their relationship was strained. During their campaigns of finding and subduing underground Pro-Svearike sympathizers, Morgan had gotten more brutal and ruthless everyday. She did try to convince him that brutality would only make everyone else hate your rule more, as the people you subdued won't become the only enemies. Morgan simply walked out and ignored her afterwards, making Fiete worried.
  • Terror of the White Raven (Part 1): Morgan de Noyon, now in his early 20s, had shown signs of something... different. Prior to his 20s, he had faithfully followed the White Snow Wolf (Fiete Kjaer) words and carried out tasks he was asked of. Although, there are plenty of times where he disobey orders, but those are only the times where he is faced with moral dilemmas. Regardless, he does what he feels is right. During a hunting trip, Fiete and Morgan was attacked by what was seemingly bandits. They managed to subdue them, but upon interrogation, they turned out to be assassins hired by those sympathetic to Svearike independence from the Vestkyst crown of the Scandinavian Union. Angered by this, Morgan brutally executed the assassins out of revenge. Fiete chastised for letting his anger get in the way, as it is not a good trait of a leader. Because of his actions, the enemy might retaliate in these difficult times. This drove a wedge between their relationship. For every ground they take, the more brutal the enemy has became. Therefore, Morgan must retaliate with equal brutality, if not more. In his view, if someone hit you, you should hit them ten times harder so they will be less likely to do it again. They will be too surprised and afraid to retaliate, those that do will. Morgan kept this view with pride. His mentor does not understand that her actions are too weak and are merely allowing more enemies to flourish. People will always take advantage of whatever you fall short of in the political world.
  • Ascendant of the Ho: In the later years of the 1390s, Dai Viet's political class has been in deep turmoil. With support from some key aristocrats, Ho Quy Ly dethroned the King, establishing the Ho Dynasty in early 1401. Land reform policies are put forward by him, having been in the works since being an official of the previous dynasty.
  • Froissart's Chronicles: The French prose on history of France during the Two Hundred Years' War in the 14th century was written by Jean Froissart.
  • Crusade of Viena: The Karelian forces continue to occupy Vienanjoki and wage war on the Vienan pagans of Kholmgory. Crusaders conquer and wreak havoc on villages along the Onega river near the border of Karelia. Vienanjoki is renamed to Arkankeli (arch angel). A Kholmic Orthodox puppet is placed into power to help the locals turn Orthodox.
  • Enmity in Oualata: Aretis-Songhai begins to fund unrest in Oualata and spreading Aretianism in the city. Most opposers are silenced by the blade.
  • Érgo Kyríou, The Lord's Work Must be Done: The second Exousian of Pygros, Kiriakos Christodouliadis, begins to see possible rivalries among the Orthodox states, which he fears could lead to infighting and a source of exploitation by the Atoumans. He talks with the Patriarch of Constantinople, Macarius, and forms Érgo Kyríou, a secret society of Orthodox priests, scholars, nobles and political advisors, whose goal would be to try and keep the Orthodox realm intact and to steer the Orthodox christendom to co-operation.
  • The Lost Man from Delhi (Part 1): In the Delhi Azarkhate, a concubine of the Delhi Azarkh fled after troops were sent to kill the two babies for unknown reasons, she kills some of the soldiers pursuing her and sacrifices herself to save the babies by leading the troops away while the infants floats down the river in a makeshift basket where she knew it will stop at a nearby village. Local villagers spot babies and rescue the two infants. The villagers decided to take care of the infants. They named them the humble name of Bahubaljeet and Baljeet.
  • Fuel to the Northern Fire Part I: Keean Amaiqkinsson, the first king of Vinland has succeeded in diplomatic relationships during his 25 years as king, and those relationships begin to pay off. Several Amaiqac tribes near the great mouth and Eyjasgaradh begin talks to join the confederation. The Abenaki tribes also start the process of joining Vinland after a long history of friendship, trade and intermarrying.

NPC Event[]

  • Naples: They begin to set their eyes on the Sardinian crusader states. An annexation proposal is drafted and sent to Norsolia. With the annexation Norsolia would gain massive benefits, protection from Naples, deletion of trading tariffs, in exchange for becoming a province of Naples, instead of an independent nations
  • Qarshids: They move their forces into Chaldea, occupying it's southern territories as they rip across Anatolia to the Atouman border.
  • Laszlofold: Feeling unsafe to Naples' annexation of Norsolia, they request to join Valcanor as a protectorate/vassal
  • Norsolia: They begrudgingly accept Naples' proposal.
  • Sukhothai: They surrender to the triple alliance of Ayutthaya, Khmerlacca and Luang Prabang, leading to the ascension of Ayutthaya as the dominant Thai kingdom, as well as the annexation of territory by Luang Prabang and Khmerlacca.

        • While most are able to fight, members of the Roundtable are encouraged to branch out into their own craft, such as pottery and sheepherding, with the idea that everyone should act like a Roundtable Knight and give their all into both their craft and their country.
        • The only way to become a Roundtable Knight is to be selected by an existing member of the group. Most knights tend to make apprentices out of those they recruit to the Roundtable, and generally, no one usually complains when a Roundtable Knight selects someone to join the ranks of the Roundtables. Depending on the country/chapter, one can also be appointed to the Roundtable by the crown..

Kingdom of Imerina (official) | Merina Kingdom (colloquial)[]

    • King: Andrianerinerina (B 1360ish, alive) (R 1392ish - Present)
    • Dynasty: Ammagari
  • Economy: The economy of the Merina Kingdom is based mainly on agriculture and fishing. That's kind of, it.
  • Allies: N/A
  • Capital: Ambania
  • Demographics:
    • Population: idk like 500 000 or smth
    • Ambania: 5 000
    • Rural regions: 495 000
    • Ethnicities: 100% Malagasy (divided into 80% Merina and 20% others such as Betsimisaraka, Betsileo, Tsimihety etc.)
    • Religion: 100% Merinan Folklore

    • N/A
  • Military: Ca 1% of our population is our available manpower that we can deploy for warfare, thus being ca 5 000 man.
    • Deployed units: None
    • 4 000 Spearmen
    • 1 000 Bowmen
  • Navy:
    • 4 transport ships
  • Diplomacy:
    • N/A
  • Events:
    • Order in the Kingdom: To restructure a petty kingdom into something more, a social order and hierarchy is directly established, which is similar to that of most medieval european hierarchies. We have peasants and farmers at the bottom, followed by warriors and people in "higher-esteemed" occupations such as tanners and the occasional weaponsmith, followed by priests and Andriana (nobles) and at the top the Monarch. Ethnicity doesn't matter in the caste system.
    • Marking down the First King: Andrianerinerina (fucking hell that name) considers himself the true founder of the Imerina state and thus orders the story of him founding it to be written down on tablets and rocks, to prevent it from just being oral tradition that could end up lost. This could also explain why the story is so based in mythology and shit.
    • Western Waters: Mostly they serve as places for fishing (most notably otl Mayotte) but some exploration is done as well as minor contact with the Swahili on the Swahili coast but due to language differences between the Merina and the Swahili means only some trading and interaction can be done with the Swahili on the Swahili coast. This is a slight problem for the Merina whom are not the Swahili on the Swahili coast.
    • Expeditions South!: Explorers and colonists are sent further south to colonize new lands and encounter new people.

Wanka Kingdom[]

  • Government: Despotic Monarchy / Tribal Monarchy
    • Monarch: Kukuri (r. 1391 - ) (b. 1355)
    • Dynasty: N/A
    • Capital: Wankapampa
  • Economy: Primitive by Old World standards, the economy of most Inca kingdoms and states in the 15th century were mainly relying on agriculture and cultivation of plants. There is some craftsmanship and maybe copper (but not really), but nothing that can be extended beyond metallurgy, which is an alien concept at that time. There is llama and alpaca herding as well, which gives the Inca some wool.
  • Demographics:
    • Population: 160,000
      • Wankapampa: 8,500
    • Culture: 100% Quechua/Chirip (...unless you want to subdivide the groups further down)
    • Religion: 100% Inca pantheon (basically Inti, but it is actually a pantheon)
  • Wars and Conflicts: N/A
  • Diplomacy: N/A
  • Events:
  • The Fortunes to Come: Things have started to come for Wanka after perhaps centuries of division since the first civilisation within the (Andean mountains) collapsed. There is a vision by some that Wanka will be destined to be an empire, colloquially named as 'Sapa Wanka' (the Only Wanka). It is only a matter of time that a ruler is born and is destined to become the leader of the Wanka people, hopefully taking on Cusco.

  • Wars and Conflicts:

  • Diplomacy:
    • Vedena: We send a gift to the leader of Vedena to show our good relations. The gift is a gold sword. A typical Vedenan gift.
  • Events:
    • Infrastructure (1): Igor II wants to make sure everybody can travel safe and fast trogh the kingdom. In this stage a road has been built from the capital to Posen.
    • Flying machine (1): Igor II is obsessed with flying. He has ordered his scientists to make a flying machine. In a test in 1401 a man had to jump of a church with a wooden flying machine. He did not die, but the Avarian healthcare isn't that good. That is why the man died a few days later from his injuries.

Kingdom of Castille and Leon[]

  • Government: Absolute Monarchy
    • Ruler (King): Henry III (1390-)
  • Economy: The economy is running quite well, the union helps strengthen the economic ties between the different kingdoms and a single currency is starting to take place in the large cities, however, the commoners have much less to enjoy, with trade varying widly from village to village, and the feudal system obstructs almost all social mobility.

  • Navy
    • Transport Ships - 30
    • Converted Merchant Ships - 10
  • Wars and Conflicts
  • Diplomacy -
    • Valcanor - We are already in an alliance, if you want to have your ships go into Castillean ports for transit or just to trade goods, that's totally okay, but diplomacy? No.
    • Albion - Agousta is a tributary state of Castille Leon, so we feel obligated to have a say in this, if you let Agousta in, you must also allow Castille-Leon in, if Castille-Leon is not let in, neither shall Agousta be allowed in.
      • Ablion Cont. - Castille-Leon accepts the invitation, bringing Agousta in the fold as well, we also provide you with mercenaries and cash from both Castille-Leon and Agousta to help with your war.
  • Events
    • New Times, New Routes - Ever since the former Pagan states have been expelled out of the the Peninsula, trade has once again returned to the area, cities like Cordoba and La Coruna grow at high rates, as works of craftmanship, such as rugs and jars pass through from Europa to Africa.
    • And on that note . . . (Part 1)- Inspiration also starts taking hold in the elite of the Kingdom for a banking system based off of those of the Italian city states, with their elaborate currency exchanges providing for a high amount of wealth, and in certain circles, talks about setting up a "Banco Real" start floating around.
    • Protect the Merchants (Part 1) - While the cultists being driven out was a good first step, pirates in the North African coasts still raid ships to and fro, a very irritating detail for certain merchants who may wish to transport goods in the Mediterranian, thus the king approves the commisioning of 75 ships to protect merchants and to overall strengthen the navy, 25 of these will be "Floating Fortresses", which are more suited to war and can be up to 1,500,000 kilograms and will have 3-4 very large masts, and "Sea Falcons", which will be smaller and more suited for combat against the rapidly cruising ships of the Arzhamist corsairs, those will be about 59,000 kilograms and have 1-3 masts with triangular sails.

Kemahanacommacah Grand Confederacy of Kemahana[]

  • Government: Pseudo-feudal elective monarchy
    • Weroance: Moskatachaw
  • Economy: Our economy is divided between a subsistence farming and a nomadic hunter-gatherer economy, mainly based on ethnic divisions. However, the introduction of horses (brought during the Exile) has revolutionized the process of hunting game, and cattle ranching and pastoralism has also begun to take shape, especially in rural peripheral regions. We are also beginning to see the very beginnings of urbanization, although much of the population is still nomadic or lives in villages with less than 200 people.
  • Capital: Tanacoma
  • Demographics:
    • Population: 32,554 (Census of 146/1402 AD)
      • Tanacoma: 5,126
      • Pocahontocoma: 2,233
      • Utemaca: 1,475
      • Other settled towns and villages: 8,264
      • Nomadic population: 15,456
    • Religion: 16.2% Pocahontist (5,274 ppl), 83.8% other (mainly assorted Native American beliefs; 27,280 ppl)
      • Pocahontism: Born during the devastation of the Accursed Plagues (most likely smallpox, typhus and other Old World diseases) in the early and mid-1200s AD, which killed up 70-80% of the population of the Powhatan Confederacy, Pocahontism is an offshoot branch of the Hellenic pagan religion (with ample amounts of influence from Christianity and Native American traditions). The main difference between Pocahontism and the Greek pantheon is the equation of Pocahontas, a Powhatan chief-turned-deity, with Zeus, Athena, and Aphrodite.
        • Orthodox Pocahontism: This sect of Pocahontism purports to be the sect which preserves the original theology of early Pocahontism the most. Orthodox Pocahontists believe that Pocahontas is the godhead and ruler of all the gods (a mix of ancestral spirits and Hellenic gods). Orthodox Pocahontists hold that Pocahontas and her spirit has, upon death, forever left the realm of the living, and only by praying through a weroance (chief) or a shaman shall Pocahontas hear your prayer. Orthodox Pocahontists teach that the Accursed Plague is punishment for a sinful society, and to avoid disease, one must live a virtuous and pious life. Orthodox Pocahontists are by far the most numerous and established of the Pocahontists, and Orthodox priests control almost all of the Pocahontist temples and shrines in Kemahana.
        • Incarnationism: Incarnationism holds that the Spirit of Pocahontas lives on in each and every human, living thing, and inanimate object (in effect a form of pantheism). Incarnationism diverges from the other Pocahontist sects in that it denies the existence of other gods and ancestral spirits as distinct entities, merely suggesting that they, too, are concentrations of the Spirit of Pocahontas. They are a small but growing minority amongst Pocahontists, and are mostly prevalent in the ranks of scholastic types.
        • Trialism: Entrenched within Kemahanan military families, Trialism teaches that the Accursed Plague (which they call the Plague of Judgement) is a tool to "judge" whether a man is pure of heart and of sin or not. They have become known for subjecting their children to a rite of passage where they are locked in a room with the corpse of a person (usually a family member) who died of the Accursed Plague, with enough food and water for a week. In Trialism, the eternal Spirit of Pocahontas is present in the Plague of Judgement. Other gods and ancestral spirits are acknowledged here, although only Pocahontas has the authority to forgive all a man's past and future sins via the Accursed Plague.
      • Other religions: Many native traditions and faiths continue, especially amongst the Miskawen population.
    • Ethnicity: 12.6% Wisawen (4,101 ppl), 87.4% Miskawen (28,453 ppl)
      • Wisawen: The Wisawen (lit. yellow men) are the descendants of the Powhatan Exiles led by Usquehannatoco. A mix of several different ethnic groups from across the OTL US East, South and Midwest, as well as minuscule amounts of white European admixture, the Wisawen are the noble ruling class of the Kemahanacommacah. They are almost uniformly settled agricultural peoples, and form a majority in certain areas of the Front Range.
      • Miskawen: "Miskawen" (lit. red men) is a blanket term for all the ethnic groups indigenous to Kemahana. These include the Ute, Shoshone, Apache, Comanche, Cheyenne and Arapaho, amongst other groups. Many of these peoples remain nomadic, although there has been increasing pressure for them to adopt settled agricultural or pastoral practices.
    • Languages: Although most people continue to speak their ancestral mother tongue at home, and Literary Powhatan continues to be used as the official language of administration, a creole language has begun to be used in commercial instances, based heavily on Powhatan, Cherokee, Ute, Shoshone, Comanche, and Arapaho.
  • Military: The Kemahanan military is mainly a levy-based system, although minuscule standing armies are used as garrisons in frontier areas to protect against raids. As the Miskawen become more integrated into Kemahanan society, our military has also begun recruiting them as quality horsemen. Most of our weapons are stone weapons due to the lack of iron and bronze in the region, with our only bronze and iron weapons being extremely prized heirlooms dating back all the way to before the Exile.
    • Infantry: 1,000 (3,000 reserves)
    • Archers: 750 (2,000 reserves)
    • Cavalry: 500 (1,500 reserves)
  • Wars and Conflicts: N/A
  • Diplomacy:
    • Lepai: Ah, fellow cultured people. We would like to propose a trade deal with you. We ask for allowing our prospectors access into your mines in exchange for you gaining some of our marvelous horses.
  • Events:
    • Manifest Destiny Before It Was Cool: In order to encourage settlement in our vast and sparsely populated territories, the Kemahanan government divided up the entirety of the mostly empty eastern plains into plots of land 3 stadion by 3 stadion (566.4m by 566.4m) wide, and provided permits to anyone wanting to settle on the vast plains for an incredibly small pittance. A string of outposts and forts would also be constructed, in order to monitor raids by outside nomadic tribes, as well as to protect the settlers should they come into confrontations with nomads in the area.
    • Gold!: Large gold and silver deposits recently having been found in the western mountains. It may not be the desperately sought-for iron and bronze for making better quality tools and weapons, but it is shiny and flashy, and soon, the royal residences are covered in gold flakes, and it has become increasingly common for local lords and priests to cover their palaces and temples with gold and silver flakes.

    • The Nomads Must Be Ruled: The nomadic hunter-gatherers of Kemahana are also offered the opportunity to partake in the settler policy, and land portions were offered for a minuscule amount of gold. However, most nomads did not have any gold whatsoever, and thus very few of them managed to buy any land plots. However, in order to avoid any potential nomad rebellions, as well as to rule the nomad population more efficiently, Kemahanan authorities devise the Miskawencommacah policy: in an effort similar (albeit much less restrictive) to OTL Native American reservations, any nomadic clan or tribe wanting to continue their way of life will be given vast self-governing Miskawencommacah territories (large enough to continue to support their way of life indefinitely) where settlers are not allowed to settle, provided they pay a tax of 3% of their catch to the authorities in Tanacoma every year. Although under the oversight of the central government at Tanacoma, the Miskawencommacah would function with great autonomy, and would also be subject to preferential taxes (by which we mean the comparative lack of them).
    • Infrastructure: In order to connect the vast country together, roads are built to every major settlement in the Kemahanacommacah, and streets are paved in any major cities.

Nihon no Domei []

  • Government: Feudal Confederation
    • Empress: Himiko San-nin
    • Shogun: Kaizaki Setsuna
    • Constituent Clans: Miyamizu, Fujiwara, Minamoto, Taira, Kangeinoshima
  • Economy: Class economy. While agriculture makes up a significant portion of the overall economy a craftsman and writing class exists, continuing to force forward the nation into the future. But all is not well in Japan - the resplendent feudal economy continues to wrestle away power from the Empress, long weakened since the days of Shogun-Empress Gozen; with the clans able to exert any power they wish over merchants and requesting contracts at their own pleasure. The peasants grow restless with increasingly inefficient farming methods encouraged by the clans, criminals and 'traitors' occupying so many of the fields. Biyearly famines are placing any attempts at expanding the merchant class on hold; and the clan leaders continue to interfere with the workings of the nation, raising samurai and ninja against one another as they so please, attempting to raise a force over Nihon the other cannot. Unaccountability runs rife. That may be about to change...

    • A Murder in Kyoto - Spring 1401: On the eve of the New Year, a curious body is found floating down the Kamo river, collecting against the Shogun's home. Kaizaki immediately orders the body suddenly collected and sent for personal investigation, something which raises eyebrows at court for a brief moment; but given her previous erratic and impulsive behaviour, it doesn't stay in the spotlight for long. Until the coroner arrives at the Empress' court and divulges that the body is that of Kaito Minamoto, the youngest son of the current Minamoto clan head - Shiroe; and the coroner is almost immediately murdered as well. The string of murders and street brawls that sweep Kyoto and old Yamatai-koku begin to raise suspicion as the clan heads butt heads at court, spurring mass suspicion.
    • The Island who shot the Empress - Winter 1402: After a disagreement at court, Empress Himiko, already unpopular amongst the clans for seemingly favouring the Miyamizu clan (what would give them that picture? It's not like she assigned three more islands to the clan's care without even holding court early into her reign) is shot. With an arrow. Kangeinoshima Alliance leader Seishiro openly denounces Empress Himiko while gloating about ordering the assassination attempt, his demeanor disturbing those around him, calling her a tyrant and invoking an old law left behind from Shogun-Empress Gozen's days giving himself power over all matters on Kangeinoshima. This sparks a crisis of power within the country the same year a mass famine breaks out in Tohoku, leaving the Fujiwara clan to run its own affairs as Empress Himiko comes into conflict with Shogun Kaizaki regarding the nature of who will lead a force to put that meddlesome little island back under control. Oh. Fuck.
    • The Empress Dies - Summer 1403: Okay, nobody expected that. Not even her own doctor, which is exactly why he continued with his Daevite-style medical treatments of bloodletting... oh, fuck. Now-dead former Empress Himiko's doctor is executed (but is later found partying away in a Nagasaki inn, celebrated,), sparking a massive succession crisis. Mainly the fact that it has been the Empress' choice to a successor and she has always chosen her successor in time for the last five-hundred-years - and this one didn't. Dead two years before she turned twenty-five she was never able to anoint her successor at Shinto court, leaving the nation with four possible successors. Meet the fighters!
      • Seishiro Kirie: From a side-clan of a side-clan(the Kujo), Kirie rose up to become a popular northern peasant force with strong support from Fujiwara (primarily because her sheer popularity has kept them safe from any total power losses by rebellion). Fourty-years old her consolidated power base allowed her to enter the Imperial court as - surprisingly - a friend of the Empress, giving her much maneuvring power. Favoured by Fujiwara and unlikely to be opposed by Miyamizu, her charisma and political instincts may outfox the rest and define Nihon; what she'd like to do being less clear.
      • Kanzaki Izuku: In a matriarchal society Izuku defied all convention in the incredibly matriarchal court of Minamoto, making his way to the highest confidants of the Minamoto clan head, Hana Minamoto Yon-ban; and possibly a murderer who stoked political tensions which helped to produce the string of murders in... ...lots of baggage. As a military strong-armer he has professed an absolute reverence for Shogun-Empress Gozen; believing that absolute authority in Nihon should be given only to the strongest (and of course completely ignoring the fact that Gozen is more similar to a socialist revolutionary than a military dictator but why let that get in the way of taking power for yourself?). Supported by nationwide military-men, particularly those in Edo and Hiroshima who still remember the fact that their naval ships were stripped away by Miyamizu and Tachibana during their stint there; he might just have what it takes to make his mark upon Nihon.
      • Uchiha Tomoko: A political strategist beyond the means of women to emerge from the higher or lower class, Tomoko was born to two merchants in Edo involved in illegal fishing and smuggling. Taught in the merchants' ways she exploited her way to control much of Edo's merchant associations (and its black market), turning institutional crime into her greatest business. Despite being Yakuza as she is she's an economic pragmatist who views the future of Nihon not as a unitary state or as a military state but one fully reformed for the common people who are willing to work - and she's got more than enough chops to manipulate her way through Nihon's political elite. Whether she can actually achieve popularity with the common people, however - peasants her organisations have previously terrorised. But with immense support from many merchant organisations and less solid support from the Kangeinoshima Alliance, she might have what she needs to completely rewrite history.
      • Mori Kyoko: Out of left field comes... an Ezoan. Yeah. But that doesn't actually show who she as as a person; previously a pirate in Ezo and Karafuto, she raced up and down the five main islands and when she ran out of other pirates to loot she ran down to Syonan for several years, earning herself a great penchant from the military - eventually joining the Imperial Navy as one of the most impeccable captains they'd ever have. Ending up in Himiko's court she was the only part of it that openly criticised the dead Empress, making her immensely popular amongst Minamoto and Taira clan leaders and respected amongst even Army officials; as a pragmatist, she sees the need for reform and wishes to dismantle the fractured feudal system that has ruled Nihon for years now. And in the worst case, she'll always be able to threaten the hell out of any competitors.

Lepai Confederation[]

  • Government: Tribal Confederation
  • Binanit’a’i: Atsa Bidzii (1391-)
  • Economy: As Semi-Nomadic people, we farm maize, beans, and squash around the more fertile land around the San Juan river and Rio Grande. Much of the population are hunter-gatherers though. Buffalo is a significant part of Lepai life, though they are less significant to us than they are to the Plains Indians. Since our introduction to sheep, some of our people have become pastoralists instead of full-time hunter gatherers. We also mine Turquoise, which is a good that Mesoamericans prize dearly.
  • Ceremonial Capital: Ni Alnii’gi (Monument Valley)

  • Events:
    • Holy Symbols: The Tsil'olni, or the “Spinning Log”, becomes extremely popular among the Priest Class. Bearing a resemblance to the Hindu Swastika, it is used in numerous religious structures and artifacts. Modern historian speaking; these symbols would be seen as proof that the Lepai are a lost tribe of Israel later on by European explorers.
    • A True Pastoral Society: After the Importing of Sheep, called Dibé in the Lepai language, the Lepai have the means of traveling long distances with a large group without having to settle down. Wool begins to be used for Clothing, even surpassing the use of cotton in certain regions, as it is easier to make cloth from wool and it is to make it cotton. In addition, goat milk becomes popular among nomads as a reliable food of nutrition, though sedentary folk refuse to consume iit as most of the lepai are lactose-intolerant.
    • Great Plague (Part One): In May of 1403, a few nomads in the western regions of our empire begin falling sick to a strange new disease. It’s named Łikizh Naałni, translated to English as “Spotted Plague”. In late 1405, it strikes the San Juan river valley.
    • Bronze: After discovering deposits of copper in the south, expansion begins to be aimed towards the southern hills. It suddenly becomes extremely profitable to spend one’s life mining copper in the south. Lepai settlements pop up in the south, along the Rio Grande. To maintain these settlements, Kinhoodzo are built and maintained by Lepai levies. In addition, copper deposits are discovered to the west of the Colorado river, far to the south. In addition, arsenic deposits are found in the area. Together, Arsenic and Copper create a rudimentary form of bronze. In addition, rumors tell of large Tin deposits far to the south.
  • Diplomacy:
    • Kemahana: Kind ones to the west, we are humbled by your generous deal. We accept. Wait oh god oh fuck why are we coughing

  • Diplomacy:
    • Laszlofold: They are welcomed to Valcanor as a vassal state. Our populations communicate well and trade to and from the island increases. Many Laszlofoldians have some Valencian ancestry.
    • Agousta and Castille-Leon: Do we have permission to use your ports for trade and diplomacy?
    • Albion: Can you sign a temporary non-aggression pact to ensure my neutrality in the war?
    • Westria: We agree to the deal.
  • Events:
    • White Traders from Europe: Valcanorese traders and merchants in Tlemcen establish trade routes stretching through the Sahara Desert to reach African nations such as Aretis-Songhai and Sokoto, and merchant ships sail down along the coast to establish trade with Aoudaghost and Galatoi.
    • Heir to the Throne: King Agustin II, reaching an old age, begins to worry about his heir as he currently has no children or even a wife. To strengthen a political alliance with Westria, we allow Westrian ships to enter Valcanorese and Granadan ports for trading purposes in exchange for a Westrian princess to marry the king.
    • A Road to Valencia: The old system of muddy dirt roads spanning Valcanor are not large enough or strong enough to support our siege weapons, new horse-drawn carts, or squadrons of soldiers as they move from one place to another across the kingdom. A larger portion of the nation's money goes towards rebuilding the infrastructure of Valcanor. Roads are reinforced with slabs of stone and rocks to support the traffic and a small slope outwards so water runs off the road or gathers in the small cracks but dropped items do not fall away. For now progress is limited to the large cities, but we hope to extend the project out into the mountains to connect Valcanor together.

Turn II: 1405 - 1410[]

Mod Events[]

KDM 1405 1410
  • Fagal Dispute: For many years, the city of Fagal was under the control of Yemen. It is the last city not controlled by the Sumali in the occupation of Ifari. While things were relatively calm at first, tensions flared after border disputes became apparent. The economic value of Fagal became well-known for being a trading up and a major hub in the access to the sea. Sumali siezes control of the city against Yemen, prompting a hostile response in form of naval vessels being sent over to retake control. Though, Sumali had its own navy planned ahead of time to be sent over. Several battles are fought over the sea at this time. But it ended rather quickly as it started.
  • Submission of the Ho: Despite the newly established Ho Dynasty's efforts to push for reforms, one of the aspects that went neglected was the military. In Spring 1408, under the pretext of 'quelling unrest', Wu led an invasion into Dai Viet territory, swiftly annexing the entire country in under six months, partially due to the sorry state of the Vietnamese army. A nobleman sharing the family name of the previous dynasty (but is unrelated to) is put on the Dai Viet throne as a vassal kingdom, where the people are often taxed heavily and life made miserable under puppet rule.
  • Permian Warlords: The Petty chieftains and warlords of Perm, having skirmished amongst each other for decades see the faltering Golden Horde and begin a series of raids on villages and farms in the northern forests and plains of Ufa
  • Hellenic Christianity: The religious emanation from Isetium through scholars, priests and debates have slowly allowed people to accept the Hellenic Christian doctrine in Cyrenai and Alodia, where now majority of the population recognize themselves as Hellenic Christians, including the kings of both nations
  • Annexation of the Faroes: After rounds of negotiation lasting a year or more, the Faroe Islands are officially incorporated into Vestkyst
  • Fuel to the Northern Fire Part II: Vinland continues it's expansion. Many earls marry Abenaki and Amaiqac daughter's of the chieftains. The first King is relishing in his power and tributes from his earls and allies. The last of the Abenaki join Vinland and the melting pot stirs with it's diverse culture and languages. Better trade relations are tied with the Passamaquoddy and Nahican nations
  • The Thing in the Balkans: The Atoumans invade Vilmnatz, taking the cities of Tomissa and Esterborg. Meanwhile, in Escoesia, the old king had twin sons, both of which vied for the throne and land for themselves. The king had an idea: a jousting tournament. One of them manages to secure a victory, becoming King Laszlo once his father died later in the decade. The land has been divided between the two sons. One gets the Dardanians (now independent) in the (alternate Bosnian) region and the other gets the crown of Eskos
  • The White Snow Wolf: It was not a normal argument between Fiete Kjaer and her apprentice Morgan de Noyon. It had gotten really heated to the point where things might've been thrown. Fiete has been worried about Morgan ever since he became more and more brutal in his methods to maintain Vestkyst's authority in the Scandinavian Union. While rebellions were mostly quelled, and threats of another within the next decade are nearly nonexistent as of the moment, Fiete decides to talk to him about it. However, after poor choice of words, Morgan was angered. Angered to the point where he decides it was time he left the region and travel back to France where he finds his own destiny there. At first, Fiete begged for him to stay, as he was like an adoptive son to her, but he did not listen and left. This left Fiete with the question whether she is getting too old to rule, or simply being out of time with current thinking. Is Chivalry dying?
  • The Terror of the White Raven (Part 2): After a fierce argument with what he would've called his mentor, it was about time for Morgan de Noyon to make his own destiny. He used to have great respect for his mentor, but she failed to accept him for the way he is. He decides to travel to France, his origins, to try to make a name for himself there. After all, the British were at war against the French for a very long time, people were too weak and caused so many deaths from the brutal stalemate and the hesitation to fight on both sides (though they are more exhausted), and Morgan figured it was time to break the stalemate. When he traveled to France, hoping to link with some group of French chapter of the roundtable knights who are more loyal to the French crown, he was horrified to learn that nearly all of them had sympathized with the British crown. In conclusion, if this was true, then perhaps everywhere in Europe who has knights may be directly (or indirectly) influenced by the British crown! He must break the hold. When he visited Orleans, near the frontlines, the locals were surprised to see his face has hold an almost uncanny resemblance to Charlemagne's statues. (While Charlemagne was secretly female, she held herself as male and her statues reflected that). Morgan got an idea, he decides to form his own group of knights, the refounding of the Paladins of Charlemagne, who were destroyed and lost roughly 500 years earlier. A knight group dedicated to break the ELITIST power of the Roundtable knights in Europe, and many would join for other reasons. The group's first members would mostly be filled with experienced veterans
  • Rivalry of the Strait: The two cities of Algecia and Ceuti, both lay on the Strait of Gibraltar, the only passage to and from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean. Algecia had for centuries been a minor town, a fishing village, not a trade port. Ceuti meanwhile had been a bastion of wealth and trade from the age of the Roman empire. Through massive reforms in the village of Ceuti in the last decades, trade had become the lifeblood of what had now become a city. Many British, Iberian and other Catholic nations begin favouring the city of Algecia over Ceuti, as only now had the services and ports grown to such an extent to provide a possible rival to the city of Ceuti, which was known to be of an aggressive nature, because of the Ares Cult, but the services and low tariffs and lack of Christian morals had been very inticing to many sailors and traders.
  • The Treasure Fleet: The great explorer, mariner and fleet admiral Zheng He sets off on a voyage westward with a massive fleet of never before seen ships of staggering size. Ships which were called by many "floating cities". Even the smallest ships rivaling older flagships. This massive enterprise was funded by the emperor of Wu, to strengthen the nations power in the region and find new riches and wonders for the emperor. Zheng He, a trusted eunuch of the emperor sets sail from Nanjing with a fleet of 317 ships and 28 000 crewmen. The armada first sailed to Kangeinoshima , coercing the three states to begin trading with the Wu empire than anyone else. The might of the fleet left little reason to try to think otherwise. Then the fleet sailed to Palawan, Brunei, asking for tributaries in a friendly tone, which the cities unsurprisingly agreed to pay when a floating army had come to their doors without warning. The fleet then sailed to Majapahit, striking up great trade deals and a friendship between Wu and Majapahit. Great treasures were racked up on these voyages and the fortresses returned to Nanjing overflowing with riches
  • The Yamato Play Collection: A collection of plays in Yamato has been recently published, a collection of stories are gathered and written down in play formats. Stories include: Princess Kiyo (Kiyohime) of Tachibana, who has said to famous turn into a serpent or dragon. Tamamo-no-mae, a whimsical kitsune that can turn into a beautiful woman. Though, there are 9 different versions and stories about her included. Minamoto no Raikou, a traveling samurai woman from the Minamoto clan whose exploits earned her governorship. And many more stories. These were occasionally performed in Noh

NPC Events[]

  • Wu: Pushing ambitions, the Wu planned subsequent assassinations of leaders in Ying, Chu, and Tiananzhou, allowing their forces to swoop in and swiftly take control of their territories.
  • Kham: Intimidated by the growing power of Ba and the Wu in the south, they made a mutual protection pact with Shanlong against these other two growing powers.
  • Golden Horde: Unable to sustain their eastern territories due to numerous post-imperial Daevite tribal raids, they abandoned Altay and Kyzyl. To protect themselves, the two cities formed their own territory, with agreements of tribes within the former East Golden Horde territory, called the "Tuva Confederation".
  • Chaldea: surrenders to the Qarshids on 1406, the Qarshids gain all of Chaldean territory in the south.

  • Naples: They covet the port of Olbia, feeling robbed by Lazlofold's sudden deal with Valcanor. Relations with Valcanor significantly decrease, but they don't make any acts of aggression. Tariffs on Valcanorese goods are raised

Kingdom of Wanka[]

    • Population: 168,000
      • Wankapampa: 8,500
    • Culture: 100% Quechua/Chirip (...unless you want to subdivide the groups further down)
    • Religion: 100% Inca pantheon (basically Inti, but it is actually a pantheon)
  • Wars and Conflicts: N/A
  • Diplomacy: N/A
  • Events:
    • The Birth of Pachacuti: A great blessing from Inti has bestowed upon the Wanka Kingdom. On 23rd June 1409, when the sun had just risen up, a son of a high-ranking family within Wanka was born. He was named as Pachacuti and is destined to become the leader of Sapa Inca (or Sapa Wanka) eventually as the current leader of the Wanka people, Kukuri has started to age. (just a note, I'm making Pachacuti born in Wanka rather than Cusco in this universe as I am planning to create an Inca Empire analogue, so he will be the guy who would conquer other Andean kingdoms - unless you want me to tell off or something, I'm keeping it as is)
    • Wisdom: Military training of warriors in Wanka is pushed forward by Kukuri in the latter half of 1400s. There is no written record of it, though there is evidence of it through art and pottery produced within Wankapampa.

    • Temple of Zanahary: A regular and popular site of prayer and sacrifice for Zanahary in Ambanja is built up and turned into a temple, upon Andrianerinerina's order. Now there is a common place of worship for the one true god.
    • Coastal Expansion: Lands going to the river Betsiboka are colonized. The river is grand and fertile allowing for successful settlements to end up there. A small settlement known as Mahajanga is founded. It's not a city so don't fucking add it to the map yet.
    • Other Expansion: South.
    • Tanymitokana: The otl Glorioso Islands are discovered and on paper colonized, practically no one lives there though except like... 2 families. The area becomes known as Tanymitokana, basically meaning "isolated land" (according to Google Translate, the best source of translation) for obvious reasons.
    • The Prince: King Andrianerinerina and Queen Consort Andriamanitra's (referring to them without "andria" from now on) son Andriananjavonana is officially named Nerinerina's heir in 1407.
    • The capital is actually Ambanja, not Ambania and I only noticed that now: I am have a serious case of the retarted.

        • The only way to become a Roundtable Knight is to be selected by an existing member of the group. Most knights tend to make apprentices out of those they recruit to the Roundtable, and generally, no one usually complains when a Roundtable Knight selects someone to join the ranks of the Roundtables. • Arquebusiers: Primitive muskets (arquebuses) are currently running through testing, and are being employed on the frontlines for field testing. However, due to their rushed development, these weapons are unreliable, prone to malfunctions, especially in poor environments.

To appease the gods, people offer sacrifices of the belongings of the dead. However, by late 1408, the plague slows down. This is in part due to beliefs that homes which were inhabited by sick people are cursed, resulting in people avoiding those houses. In addition, the Binanit’a’i declares that homes in which more than 2/3rds of the inhabitants are sick are to have their entrances bricked. These policies slow the spread of the plague.

    • Kangeinoshima's Shame - Autumn 1406: Seishiro is found dead with a deep stab wound inside his stomach; his katana but a metre away from his corpse. The Kangeinoshima economy suffers, given the fact that the confusing terms dictated by Zheng He prevent any concrete trade with any powers; thus, a vast majority of people in Kangeinoshima continue to trade with Syonan and Nihon regardless. This makes for a big problem to the arriving Wu Delegate - Wang Enkai; who adamantly demands that the island begins to crack down on this supposed 'illegal trade'. Wang is so incredibly and hilariously unpopular he is stabbed in a mob rush, which will surely do nothing wrong for Wu-Yamatai relations, whilst Shogun Kaizaki sends a delegation demanding that the Alliance completely ignore Wu orders and continue to trade as per usual. Meanwhile, the date for Empress to be decided is set to be at the end of 1415.
    • Oops! That's a mistake. - Spring 1407: Oh, they weren't supposed to be murdering a' murdering? Yikes. The small bit of Zheng He's fleet that he left behind to enforce the decision is then promptly ransacked by a coalition of peasants, merchants, and even some clan members, something which completely infuriates Uchiha Tomoko, who returns at once from Kyoto to manage the utter mess that the island is becoming; her presence becoming something of a destabilising constant as while she is popular with the merchant class, the peasants suspect she aims to bring the Yakuza to Kangeinoshima; whilst the clan leaders who had previously deferred to Seishiro view her with suspicion and glee alike. The ransacking results in the destruction of an entire port with a massive fire which burns the surrounding town to the ground, killing thousands in a fire which will come to be known as the Fire of Wu.
    • Here, comes, the Manchurian Wu candidate - Winter 1407: Obviously pissed off by the events occurring, the highest-ranking Wu official still in Kangeinoshima decides that it'd make more sense for a Wu citizen to be on the throne of Nihon. Welcome, our new candidate:
      • Midoriya Kaitou (actually Zhang Kaisheng): the son of a third-generation Han family in the lower rungs of the clan network in Kangeinoshima, Midoriya met up with a Wu representative offering financial relief for his recent debt troubles. The result was him suddenly finding himself the official Wu-declared candidate by Wang Ziyun; not exactly sure what other than the promise of riches is keeping him in the race to become the first Emperor in centuries. With little to no support in the entire race, what few people that have heard of him scoff at his chances, and his indecisiveness only inspires unconfident supporters from miles around.
  • THE RACE FOR EMPRESS:
    • Current Candidates:
      • Midoriya Kaitou: Supporters concentrated in tiny regions throughout Kangeinoshima, particularly in the North. Heavy sprinkling from all rungs of the class ladder. Little fame.
      • Seishiro Kirie: Supporters concentrated in Tohoku and definitive outside support from Ezo; some supporters in Miyamizu. Primarily all peasants or Fujiwara clan members. Primary opposition from former military officers.
      • Kanzaki Izuku: Supporters heavily concentrated in Minamoto, with many in Kyoto supporting him due to his promise of military supremacy. Primarily Minamoto and Taira clan members from the old guard, as well as some former officers in the Imperial Navy. Primary opposition from peasants.
      • Uchiha Tomoko: Kangeinoshima, Kyushu, and Edo are her main support bases, with particular support from the nationwide merchant class. Main sources of opposition from clan leaders as well as peasants in Kangeinoshima.
      • Mori Kyoko: A small, but noticeable peasant support from across the entire country as well as some support from Syonan and Ezo; very little concentrated opposition against her due to belief she is unable to win regardless.

Valcanor[]

  • Government: Absolute Monarchy

    • Queen: Sophia Hohenstaufen of Westria
  • Economy: The Valcanorese Triangle, a trading route between Barcelona, Marseille, and the small town of Tenucio (OTL Sassari) in Laszlofold transports war supplies and mercenaries to France, building materials and food to and from Laszlofold, and food, people, and tokens of Central and Northern European culture to Valcanor. Meanwhile, our trading with Tlemcen and sub-Saharan states continues. We also send trading vessels out to Byzantium, Isetium, Venice, and Sicily in the further East.

  • Events:
    • White Traders from Europe, Part 2: Trade routes extending to the Kanuri people and the nation of Kanem. Routes are established to the nations of Ig, Mossi, and Djenne, and traders passing through them bring European goods in exchange for natural resources and raw materials from Africa. Along the coast, merchants travel to Bayelsa and the Yoruba and Bassa people. To make trading easier, a small colony or trading post named Puerto Comercio is founded west  of OTL Accra, about 100 kilometers (62 miles) from the furthest extent of the Yoruba.
    • Heir to the Throne, Part 2: The newly arrived Westrian princess is married to King Agustin III. The king is excited, as after about a year of a healthy relationship, the queen is pregnant... with a girl. You have lost head privileges. Princess Selina is born in late 1407, bringing joy to the nation, though Agustin is still frantic for an heir. Two years later, the aging king gets his chance. Queen Sophia is pregnant with another child, though only time will tell if it will produce the much-awaited heir.
    • A Road to Valencia, Part 2: A system of roads from one city to another increase overland travel and trade within Valcanor. Our road system still could use lots of work, only stretching between larger cities, but it will do for now. We also build a road from Olbia to Tenucio to make travel easier, and a road from Murcia to Garofe in Granada, from which we plan on expanding out from throughout our vassal. With permission from Castile-Léon, we will extend our roads into their cities.
    • 'The Islands of the Cats:' A group of Valcanorese merchant ships sailing to Puerto Comercio is blown off course and shipwrecked in what would come to be called the Feles Islands (OTL Canary Islands) and captured by the Guanches tribe, a cat-worshipping sacrificing order.. After negotiations through hand signs and drawings in the sand, the merchants are released and are offered to live on the uninhabited island of Graciosa. The merchants live there for a year or two, establishing the city of Gran Graciosa on the northern shore. Eventually, a few merchants managed to sail back to Valcanor and inform the King about the new islands. Supplies, people, animals, and tools are sent to Hran Hraciosa and the other uninhabited islands of the Reducida (OTL Chinijo) Archipelago.
    • Quenching the Thirst for Inquisition: A small town in central Valcanor has been discovered to be hiding cultists in Catholic Churches. Enraged, a knight from an unknown land who goes only by Carlo riled up the people of a nearby town on a crusade against their neighbor’s activities. The makeshift army storms the city, killing Cultists and taking the harbored captive. When the king hears of the happenings, he rewards and congratulates Carlo and encourages the Valcanorese to keep an eye out for cultists and report them at once.

    • Population: 36,834
      • Tanacoma: 6,126
      • Pocahontocoma: 3,233
      • Utemaca: 1,975
      • Other settled towns and villages: 9,764
      • Nomadic population: 15,736
    • Religion: 19.8% Pocahontist (7,330 ppl), 83.8% other (mainly assorted Native American beliefs; 29,504 ppl)
    • Ethnicity: 17.1% Wisawen (6,331 ppl), 82.9% Miskawen (30,503 ppl)
    • Languages: Although most people continue to speak their ancestral mother tongue at home, and Literary Powhatan continues to be used as the official language of administration, a creole language has begun to be used in casual and commercial instances, based heavily on Powhatan, Cherokee, Ute, Shoshone, Comanche, and Arapaho.
    • Infantry: 1,000 (3,200 reserves)

  • Events:
    • Populating the Plains: With essentially anyone being able to own a nice plot of land in the countryside nowadays, many of the younger generation are seeking their fortunes in the wild, unsettled plains outside the newly-established cities.
    • Traps!: After several attempted assassinations and murders of minor lords, as well as attempts to steal gold from their palaces, most Kemahanan palaces are now extensively booby trapped.
    • We are Blessed By The Gods: In certain circles of the Pocahontist priesthood, a ritual has begun that is purported to defend against the Great Plague, in which one takes the scabs of a person afflicted by the Great Plague, grinds them up, and then snorts them up the nose. Although considered nonsensical to some, it works more often than not.

Turn III: 1410 - 1415[]

KdM1410-1415

Mod Events[]

  • The White Snow Wolf: In late 1414, with the political atmosphere within the Scandinavian Union relatively stable, Fiete Kjær made the decision to abdicate from the thrones of Vestkyst, Danemark and Svearike, leaving her 19 year old granddaughter Helene to ascend as the new Queen of the Union. While no longer in power, Fiete remained in an advisory position to guide her successor. The position of Grandmaster of the Kjærsfekter (Vestkyst's equivalent of the Roundtable) naturally followed Helene's ascension to the throne.
  • Terror of the White Raven (Part 3): Doubts were made of Morgan de Noyon's growing group of Paladins. His group was not officially supported nor adopted by the French Crown. However, an opportunity presented itself when Burgundy joined the war, voicing British support. He managed to convince the King of France to allow his group to join the campaign against Burgundy on Verdun. It was a shock when Verdun was captured in 1411 in a quick strike along with a quick surrender of the city. It was thanks to Morgan's efforts, although mainly his brutality of threatening to murder the city governor's family he had captured and hang them (and the family of the soldiers inside Verdun) around. This success was quickly replicated in Nancy in 1412. During this siege, people have likened him to Charlemagne over 600 years ago. Perhaps he was a descendant of Charlemagne? Or is he the rebirth/reincarnation? Regardless, his resounding success has impressed the King and he made Morgan's group an official part of the French army. In time, the Paladins would become the elite force of France.
  • The Maid and the Drake (Part 1): Roughly 200 years after Jaune of Arc's deeds came to passing, his descendants led a rural life somewhere in a small village called Domremy, which is current controlled by France (wrestled from Burgundy during their entry into the Two-Hundred Years War. In 1412, two twin peasant girls were born in the same village to parents by the name of Jacques d'Arc and Isabelle. While both were named technically named Jeanne, modern historians would distinguished both twin names as Jeanne of Arc and Joan (Ann) of Arc (Jeanne and Jehanne in French). They lived in an isolated patch of eastern France that remained loyal to the French crown despite being surrounded by pro-Burgundian lands. Several local raids occurred during their early childhood and on one occasion their village was burned.
  • The Doctrines of the Untamed Stream: In the far north of Kamchatka there has been a history of tea brewing and the perfection of the art. Kida Kiyoshi, a scholar and traditionalist living a life of seclusion in a monastery along the Kamchatka river writes a work of utmost importance in the culture of brewing. In this book, "The Doctrines of the Untamed Stream" he gathers all of his stories, rituals in the tea ceremony and how to properly perform those rituals. The work also contains philosophical argumentation on how to live life. He preaches of a life of refraining, silence, respect of nature and to not take what one does not need. He teaches of his ways to his ten students. This is how the tradition of the Tea masters had begun.
  • Gavelkind (in) Succession: In a remarkable period of five short years, gavelkind succession see the major states of Ulm and Bavaria split into four smaller duchies each. The area around Nuremberg taken from Ulm was annexed into the Duchy of Bayreuth, one of said smaller ducal holdings. The same phenomenon also happened elsewhere within the Holy Roman Empire, for example, the split of Zwolle from Anglefrizien and Thuringia from Saxony.
  • The Hanseatic City of Dortmund: Despite only being a small town of the Ruhr only a few generations earlier, increasing Hanseatic investments have seen the city grow to one of the biggest in Western Germany, rivaling Münster and the like. Dortmund serves as a hub for the Hansa to facilitate trade through the Rhineland region through both land and river.
  • A Peaceful Transition: The brother kings of Escosia and Dardania both saw a flaw with how they'd been given their kingdoms. The Escosian king wanted Ujvidek to be under the Escosian banner, and the Dardanian king wanted a port, so they both made a deal and drew new borders, without bloodshed.

NPC Events[]

  • Burgundy: They voiced support for the British and joined the Two-Hundred Years War on their side, willing to take the opportunity for the French crown. However, a military blunder by incompetent and elitist generals caused their armies to retreat and allowed France to plow through Verdun and Nancy by 1412.
  • Atoumans: They annex the eastern regions of Vilmnatz, including Ingrida, making peace after it's conquest
  • Arashena: They push further south, and reaches the edge of Uruk, nearly cutting off the Qarshid forces a second time.

Kingdom of Imerina (official) | Merina Kingdom (colloquial)[]

  • Government: Absolute Monarchy (Kingdom)
    • King: Andrianerinerina (B 1360ish, alive) (R 1392ish - Present)
    • Dynasty: Ammagari
  • Economy: The economy of the Merina Kingdom is based mainly on agriculture and fishing. That's kind of, it.
  • Allies: N/A
  • Capital: Ambanja

    • Religion: 100% Haintenism

    • 1 000 Bowmen
  • Navy:
    • 5 transport ships
  • Diplomacy:
    • Betsimisaraka: We propose to set up a more proper border, to avoid border conflicts as well as to directly mark down which land belongs to which people.
  • Events:
    • The Sarintany Manontolo: From several years of exploration and documentation of the island we inhabit, the Sarintany Manontolo (literally "map entirety", as in "map of everything") is created, it documents all of Madagascar, various mountains, rivers as well as the other two states and other tiny tribal "realms".
    • Conscription: A "proper" conscription system is set up for the army. Right now this is done just to quell the tribal raids on the frontier that happen every once in a while but will play a bigger role in the future.
    • Hainteny, writer and speaker: Hainteny, born in the late 14th century, is a priest of the Merina as well as one of the people responsible for writing down the history of the Imerina state as ordered by Nerinerina. A philosopher as well and a major religious figure, he sees that the oral tradition that Merina folklore is being passed around by is fragile, just like how it is in regards to history. Thus, he reads up (or rather, listens) on as much as possible regarding the folklore (as well as knowing a lot himself since he is a priest of the religion ya know) and then starts writing several texts describing the events and deities in Merina folklore so that it can be more easily passed down from generation to generation and it no longer relies on oral tradition and has less of a chance to disappear into the void of lost history.
    • And some more expansion southwest: Self-explanatory.

Kingdom of Wanka[]

  • Government: Despotic Monarchy / Tribal Monarchy
    • Monarch: Kukuri (r. 1391 - ) (b. 1355)
    • Heir: Nayaraq (b. 1386)
    • Pretenders:
      • Pachacuti (b. 1409) (the world is trembling)
    • Population: 175,000
      • Wankapampa: 8,700
    • Culture: 100% Quechua/Chirip (...unless you want to subdivide the groups further down)
    • Religion: 100% Inca pantheon (basically Inti, but it is actually a pantheon)
  • Military: The military of Wanka or at least the rest of the Andes is primitive, but they are quite unorganised as there is relative peace within tribes and kingdoms of the region. Weaponry is quite primitive as swords are not a thing yet and are unheard of. However in Wanka, organisation and training was changing the shape as it is (hopefully) destined to unite the people and form the Inca Empire (or basically Wanka Empire). Below should total around 1% of the military roughly.
    • 600 spearmen
    • 300 slingers
    • 200 archers (bow & arrow ranged infantry essentially)
    • 500 axemen/clubmen
  • Wars and Conflicts:
    • War Against Ichma: (see Preparation for War)
  • Diplomacy: N/A
  • Events:
    • The Heir and Pretenders: Kukuri declares Nayaraq, which is his cousin to become the next leader of the Wanka. However, Pachacuti is still slowly being raised, unknowingly becoming a contender for the pretender role. However, his age doesn't make him fit for the rule (just yet, hoping to aim for the 1430s timeframe) and as Kukuri ages, it is expected that Nayaraq would succeed as leader by the latter half of the 1410s.
    • Preparation for War: Numbers are slowly being racked up to fight against Ichma. With training being done and plans of an offensive to fight against other kingdoms being realised, it is hoped that Wanka could assault Ichma no later by the latter half of the 1410s or few more cycles.

Kingdom of Castille and Leon[]

  • Government: Absolute Monarchy
    • Ruler (King): John II (1406-)
  • Economy: The economy is running quite well, the union helps strengthen the economic ties between the different kingdoms and a single currency is starting to take place in the large cities, however, the commoners have much less to enjoy, with trade varying widly from village to village, and the feudal system obstructs almost all social mobility.

      • Roundtable Knights (Elite): 8,000
        • These are Britain’s elite forces. A rebirthed version sprouting from Artoria’s original group of holy knights, this force has never lost a battle, and has unwavering loyalty to the crown and the Order of the Roundtable, willing to fight to the death for the survival of the British Isles.
        • Notable (Living) Members:

      • Naval Vessels:
        • Dual-purpose Merchant War Vessels: Primarily functions as a merchant vessel that is more heavily armed than most merchant vessels, mainly to protect against pirates. In essence, these ships are normal merchant vessels, except with slightly thicker hulls and a complement of longbow archers onboard.
          • Number in possession: 80
        • Pre-”Ship of the Line” Warships: These ships that came before the Ship-of-the-Lines. In essence, these ships had state-of-the-art hull designs with “primitive” armament; the English longbow.
          • Number in possession: 45

Research and Development

  • Cannons: Efforts have been made to increase the size and caliber of the cannons for usage on the battlefield.
  • Naval Vessels: British Engineers work on designing larger ships, ones able to tackle the rough seas of the Atlantic. That being said, efforts are put more into cannons and arquebusiers
  • Arquebusiers: Primitive muskets (arquebuses) are currently running through testing, and are being employed on the frontlines for field testing. However, due to their rushed development, these weapons are unreliable, prone to malfunctions, especially in poor environments.

Training and Production

  • Dual-purpose Merchant War Vessels x 1,000
  • Arquebusier Units x3,000
    • Mainly recruited from the ranks of the infantry
  • Primitive Field Cannons x500
  • Roundtable Knights x50
    • The Roundtable Knights’ numbers only include those who have finished their training. The actual number is around 1.5x the actual numbers.
  • Whatever equipment and personnel is required to maintain numbers on the frontline.

Diplomacy

  • Burgundy
    • In the attempt to get some pressure off of Burgundy, Henry decides to try and take over Paris, as well as cut off the North from the sea by taking Calais, mainly in the attempt to pull troops from their advance into Burgundy territory.
  • Valcanor
    • Ash agrees to sign the document to allow Albion and Valcanor to remain neutral. In addition. Even if he wants nothing to do with the war in France, Ash still understands that as long as Valcanor doesn't enter the war, the 200 Years' War will come to an end sooner than later.
  • Papal States
    • Ash visits the Pope for a friendly meeting, mainly to get his views on the conflict in France (Ash is also unaware of Henry's visit a few years prior)

Events

  • Advent of an Era
    • The Arquebusiers on the front were a shock to be sure to those who fought them, though their short range meant that they’d be outranged by archers. Still, since arquebusiers required less training than archers, it would be easier to train more arquebusiers than archers, a lesson that would stick with the British for centuries to come.
  • Spring Offensive of 1410
    • The fighting occurs across the front, with new fronts opening up in Southern and Northern France, with each puch driving for Limoges and Calais, respectively.
      • By late 1415, through tough and arduous fighting, the English slowly made their way to Paris, with the city in sight by January of 1416.

The death of the Shogun also inspires nothing but uncertainty; with many merchants beginning to flee to Syonan. This will not bode well for whoever comes into power.

    • 60 kawataro-fune
    • 150 cargo ships
  • Diplomacy:

  • Events:
    • More candidates enter the fray - Summer 1411: As the situation in Kyoto destabilises more and more, political murders racking up, all candidates but Midoriya leave the city for neighbouring regions; whereupon he is promptly beaten and found a partly-dead man, barely clinging onto life. The violence only emboldens numerous other candidates, from Ryukyu to Tohoku:
      • Hori Shizuku: A peasant from Tachibana, she found herself a highly effective political leader at organising against the merchant class whenever they attempted to negotiate down the payments for rice and other agriculture; becoming incredibly popular as a result, seen as something like a 15th-century Union leader. Her allegiances are directly and entirely aligned with Nihon's poor, who she views as unfairly treated, unfairly maligned, and now destined under the great heavens to take their rightful place in the class system - the same as everyone else. As a viral leader she spreads through word-of-mouth; although her supporters are largely unable to go out and make their way to convince their respective clan leaders to support her, there may just be enough to bring about a revolution...
      • Nishimiya Asuka: Formerly of the Taira clan, she found herself pressed out of the assigned hereditary primogeniture when her mother was discovered to have relations with another man. The ensuing chaos left her as a bitter Ryukyuan with an incredible intelligence, wasted on decades of angered plotting - or did it? Returning to power as head of the Ryukyu islands and even a major ally of some Kyushu sub-clans, her determines that the only way forward for Nihon is not under primogeniture or some kind of monarchy - but as a government of the educated, of the 'deserving'. With a sizeable, subversive clan support, she's seen as the only candidate guaranteed to protect clans' existences - but with ties to Shogun Kaizaki, as well as remarks on stripping power away from nobles, is she really who she seems?
      • Hu Jin-Yo: From Gojuryeo of birth, he fundamentally understands he's not meant to be running. And that's fine. He's in the race primarily because he wants his country to be united, and he promises the support of Nihon's sizeable Joseon minority towards whoever wins - his incredible popularity among the community, largely scattered along Nihon's Southeast coasts, making him incredulously lucrative. Whoever can convince him they will win will earn his support - and he has only one clarification: support a united Joseon.
      • Bakushi Yona: Another candidate who's just in to get her community a better deal. The tiny, yet surprisingly wealthy Eskosian minority of Nihon might give a desparate boost to anyone who needs it - and who's going to convince her? Her conditions lie more specifically than Jin-Yo, with her regarding the community's classification as actual Yamatai paramount to their safety. And that rider may not be worth it for some.
    • Shogun Kaizaki's endorsement - Spring 1412: Aaaaand she's dead too. Well, fuck. With all of Nihon's highest political leadership dead - this time due to a stroke, although some rumour that she had an affair with another clan's head and was assassinated for it - a new position is opened up: the Shogun. Whoever becomes Emperor or Empress will dictate the nation's policy; but whoever becomes Shogun will dictate the nation's course of action to achieve that policy. The race only heats up after this, political violence spreading from Ezo to Kangeinoshima in order to get anything done.
    • Coalition Candidacies - Autumn 1413: Some candidates, realising that they have more in common than not, decide that it's worth joining together in their fight for Empress and Shogun. The alliance forged between Mori Kyoko and Hori Shizuku forges together two precariously teetering bases; Kanzaki Izuku and Nishimiya Asuka's sudden partnership raising eyebrows. Everyone is going to need every hand they can get in the coming war for Kyoto.
    • The peasants rebel - Winter 1414: When a sizeable famine hits after an incredibly poor harvest, the peasants finally decide they've had enough, beginning riots in major cities in order to get whatever they can; some choosing to join the peasant-supporting candidates' side. The clans freak out as the entire nation goes from being united in name only to being completely ransacked; the social classes of the old going out with the winter, bringing about a period of massive social unrest that may not end any time soon. With all said and done the Yamatai authorities declare that without question the Empress will be elected by everyone - angering the military, the clan leaders, the merchants, and changing the dynamics of the entire battle in its entirety. Who will win the race to enter Nihon into a new era?
  • THE RACE FOR EMPRESS:
    • Current Candidates:
      • Midoriya Kaitou: Supporters concentrated in tiny regions throughout Kangeinoshima, particularly in the North. Heavy sprinkling from all rungs of the class ladder. Little fame.
      • Seishiro Kirie: Supporters concentrated in Tohoku and definitive outside support from Ezo; some supporters in Miyamizu. Primarily all peasants or Fujiwara clan members. Primary opposition from former military officers.
      • Nishimiya Asuka and Kanzaki Izuku: Supporters heavily concentrated in Minamoto, with many in Kyoto supporting him due to his promise of military supremacy. Primarily Minamoto and Taira clan members from the old guard, as well as some former officers in the Imperial Navy. Primary opposition from peasants. Nishimiya's joining on has earned more Minamoto and Taira clan members, but more direct opposition and splitting in certain parts of the base.
      • Uchiha Tomoko: Kangeinoshima, Kyushu, and Edo are her main support bases, with particular support from the nationwide merchant class. Main sources of opposition from clan leaders as well as peasants in Kangeinoshima.
      • Hori Shizuku and Mori Kyoko: Considerable peasant support from across the entire country as well as some support from Syonan and Ezo; very little concentrated opposition against them due to belief they are unable to win regardless.
      • Hu Jin-Yo: Representative of the Joseonese in Nihon, their support for him almost guaranteed.
      • Bakushi Yona: Representative of the Eskosians in Nihon, their support for her definitive and guaranteed.

  • Diplomacy:
    • Westria: Unfortunately, our royal wife bank is running low (That was kind of the whole point of your princess marrying into our royal line), but I’m sure Princess Selina wouldn’t mind being shipped over once she reaches 15 or 20.
    • Genoa: Again, we wish to offer access to Gibraltar and therefore the Atlantic in exchange for access to your ports.
    • Ghana: Hey kid, you want some infrastructure?
  • Events:
    • White Traders from Europe, Part 3: Puerto Comercio becomes a new hub for traders, and we begin to establish better relations with the tribes nearby as we figure out their language and translators are put into business. Our trade extends as far south as the Mpongwe and Kongo tribes, and the whole way up the coast to Viridi Litore and Aoudaghost. Continue to trade down through the Sahara, and we consider constructing roads there as well. We trade with Libya, Cyrenai, and Girba through both naval and land trade routes. The merchant ships are improved for defense and to store more goods, and we begin to have the Valcan navy escort larger fleets of merchant ships to ward off pirates.

    • Heir to the Throne, Part 3: Queen Sophia has given birth to twins: a girl, Lela, and a boy, Lazaro. The king is overjoyed, and the young prince is sent to a special teacher to train him in the ways of courtship, the arts, discipline, and leadership. Lela, the princess, will act as the public face of the monarchy as she grows up, socializing with the public and making sure their needs are provided by the king.
    • A Road to Valencia, Part 3: As the last few cities are connected and put on the map, many inland cities like Zaragoza and Andorra see an influx in tourism and population due to travel being made more efficient.
    • The Islands of the Cats, Part 2: Gran Graciosa experiences large growth as citizens of Valcanor envy the warmer climate of the islands. The Reducida Archipelago sees more settlements pop up here and there, and settlers eventually spill over onto Lanzarote and form a new settlement, Puerto Segunda Casa, is founded near OTL Arrecife.
    • Quenching the Thirst for Inquisition, Part 2: A small pocket of Cultists rise from the city of Tarragona, and begin threatening the outskirts of Barcelona. The military is called in to intervene, and the Cultists are scattered into the countryside and regroup much further south, at Murcia. The military begins preparing for war against the Cultists to expel them from Valcanor, once and for all.
    • A Big Bang: The first cannons are introduced to the Valcan military. Speaking of the military, mass exercises and practice attacks help better prepare our soldiers for war.

Lepai[]

  • Government: Tribal Confederation
  • Binanit’a’i: Atsa Bidzii (1391-)
  • Economy: As a  Semi-Nomadic people we farm maize, beans, and squash around the more fertile land around the San Juan river and Rio Grande.

    • New Wife: Atsa Bidzii remarries after his wife died of the plague. His new wife is Pueblo.
    • Plague Over ee: After 5 long years, the plague ends. Our economy is still fucked though.

      • Nomadic population: 16,023
    • Religion: 27.3% Pocahontist (11,175 ppl), 73.7% other (mainly assorted Native American beliefs; 29,704 ppl)
    • Ethnicity: 22.8% Wisawen (9,331 ppl), 78.2% Miskawen (31,548 ppl)

It is this idea that further drives the people of Kemahana to the frontiers: after all, in order to succeed in this premise, the Kemahanan nation must serve as a model for all the other peoples of Turtle Island in order for this endeavor to succeed.

    • Out In The Frontier: More and more people have begun to seek their fortunes in the frontiers of the Kemahanacommacah; from the estranged second and third sons of farmers shunted from inheriting the family farm, to former Miskawen nomads pressured into taking up farming or ranching, to miners looking for treasure, a stream of people have begun populating the border regions, and even expanding into the nearby lawless prairies. One major settlement pops up in this new frontier: the boom town of Iyi Sipi (OTL Garden City, KS), which has grown to an astonishing 700 people, in a nation of a mere 40 thousand souls.
    • Royal Marriage?: Our Majesty Weroance Moskatachaw travels to our kindred Kingdom of Lepai, offering Prince Sikankanna, the firstborn and favorite son of the Weroance,'s hand in marriage to any of Binanit’a’i Atsa Bidzii's daughters.

Turn IV: 1415 - 1420[]

KdM1415-1420

Mod Events[]

  • Terror of the White Raven (Part 4): Morgan de Noyon, now in his mid 30s and soon late 30s, has never found love. With his legacy in the Paladins of Charlemagne now cemented and their position has improved, to the point where they became pretty much the guard for the Crown, he begun to consider his future and the needs of himself. Mid-life crisis perhaps? Naturally, he'd likely go with a meritocracy of all things. However, maybe for once his child could carry on his legacy and be the better version of Morgan. He soon got his answer when he met a beautiful woman in 1416. She was a baron of the city of Vichy, but also was close enough to the front to have some form of experience whenever a Burgundian army decides to raid or lay siege. They became pretty close friends. He was hesitant to ask, but he finally worked up the courage to propose to her in 1418. She rejected him. With her rejection, Morgan had started to feel whether he was being punished, and if he would die alone.
  • The White Snow Wolf: The next few years since abdication has been quite uneventful for Fiete Kjær, who now spends time guiding her granddaughter Helene and venturing around the capital of Bergen with a band of bodyguards and a few trusted friends. She frequented ports, seemingly showing slight interest for the fishing industry; however, secret conversations with her lover Irene may have indicated that the former old queen has other plans...
  • Johannes Huss: A Boihemian priest, who gained a following by preaching in Königgrätz and criticizing the Catholic church. He opposed many aspects of the Catholic Church in Boihem, such as their views on ecclesiology, simony, the Eucharist, and other theological topics. The new pope, Alexander V was persuaded to side with Boihemian church authorities against Hus and his disciples. He issued a Papal bull that excommunicated Hus; however, it was not enforced, and Hus continued to preach. Hus then spoke out against Alexander V successor Antipope John XXIII, for his selling of indulgences. Hus's excommunication was then reinforced, and he spent the next two years living in exile. When the Council of Constance assembled, Hus was asked to be there and present his views on the dissension within the church. When he arrived, he was immediately arrested and put in prison. He was eventually taken in front of the council and asked to recant his views. He replied, "I would not for a chapel of gold retreat from the truth!". When he refused, he was put back in prison. On July 6, 1415, he was burned at the stake for heresy against the doctrines of the Catholic Church. He could be heard singing Psalms as he was burning. His criticisms and the life's work of John Wycliffe would maybe prove to be kindling for a spark to light Europe ablaze.
  • The Hussite Wars: After the execution of Jan Hus, many of his followers were persecuted. After four years of hiding and trying to live in peace, the Pope launches a crusade to end the spread of Hussitism, which had been adopted by hundreds of thousands of Boihemians, now calling themselves the Hussites. Königgrätz was sieged by the crusaders, but then sieged by the Hussites and reconquered, destroying the crusaders. Boiheim is now fraught with civil war, with a majority of the Boihemians siding with the Hussites.
  • The Maid and the Drake (Part 2): While the village of Domremy (still controlled by French) was rarely raided, they were at least minor with the village remaining mostly intact. Little injuries would occur, and only if any villager resists would the raids result in death. 1416, the village of Domremy suffered one of its worst raids in history by the Burgundians. Joan, a twin of Jeanne and born with lighter hair, had one day stood up to the British and Burgundian raiders when she was ALMOST 5 years old. They responded by knocking out and kidnapping her. Joan was not the more kinder twin of Jeanne, but she did not cause any trouble for the village. The kidnapping of a 4 year-old-girl did not sit well with the village, and they went out to defend her, resulting in nearly 10% of the village population dying to the raiders and most of the houses were damaged in some sort of way. As for young Joan, she was taken into the custody of the Burgundian army, barely remembering who she was. Overtime, those who participated in the raid of the village, and those that heard about it, had died in the war by the end of the decade. So by 1420, when Joan was 8 years old, she was taken into custody of the Knights of the Round table, after finding out the Burgundian forces have kept a little girl (as a servant) somehow for almost there for 4 years. Not wanting to waste time into investigations, the Roundtable had taken her in, though with little protest of the Burgundians.
  • Lam Sơn Uprising: In early 1418, having secured the support of several prominent families, Lê Lợi rose up with the initial aim to restore the former dynasty to power. The first few years was particularly rough for the uprising, as without the numbers to defeat the Wu and puppetted army outright, the rebellion had to resort to guerilla warfare, leading to mixed success. However, Lê Lợi was said to have possessed the mythical blade Thuận Thiên (Heaven's Will), leading him to be believed as to have been chosen by the gods, skyrocketing his reputation and credibility within Dai Viet territory.
  • Fuel to the Northern Fire Part III: The earl of Tradailcaladh visits the King Keean and during a feast in the great hall of Beul Munnurinn, he proposes a new series of great raids to the south. It'd been decades since the great raids and the bounties they gave Vinland helped it soar to new heights of wealth and prosperity. Maybe it'd be time to do so again. King Keean approves and orders the earl to send men, preferably some of the Manahahtaani traders, who already know the Elysian tongue, to find out more about the Elysian cities and provide a collection of targets for a new wave of raids.
  • The Treasure Fleet Part II: Zheng He continues his expeditions, sailing to the Persian gulf and along the Ahuric peninsula to the coast of East Africa, from where he found animals never before seen by the Chinese, like zebras and lions and giraffes. He took them on his ships and brought them back to the Wu Emperor, who was awed by these animals and taken into the forbidden gardens where the animals and hundreds of other animals as tributes from various countries were kept and cared for. This trip solidified a new trade route spanning from Fagal to Nanjing. Various trade ports are also created in India.
  • The Lost Man from Delhi (Part 2): Now in their mid-teenage years, the twin boys by the name of Bahubaljeet and Baljeet were hard at work as fishers by the river for their local village. It was when one misadventure had set them off to something unknown. They found a cave that was sealed up over a decade ago. Curious as to what is located inside, the boys had managed to take the day to dig up the sealed cave. To their horror, they found a dead body inside the cave. They went over to the village and told their family about it. But they were surprised to learn that there was a darker secret lurking about. The family revealed that they were not native to the village, but rather the children of the lady that passed away. When they are older, they could set off on their own, and the family would understand. They told them the woman came north from here. The boys agreed to spend the next several years gathering appropriate gear to set off when they are older.
  • The Plight of Gran Gracoisa: On one moonless night in 1418, the settlement of Gran Gracoisa on the Canary Islands was unceremoniously plundered and sacked by the Guanches, killing somewhere around 60-80% of the population of the island. Only a handful of colonists manage to escape on small rowboats, which were sunk in a storm of the coast of Mauretania. (The islands were never noted to be "uninhabited".) Settlers of other outposts, fearing for their lives, packed up and flee the island chain, safely returning to the port of Gibraltar a few months later.)
  • The Korean Question: For generations, the Korean Peninsula has been divided into a number of bickering powers. This has led to a wave of Confucian philosophers pondering the prospect of uniting the nation. Following this thought, after a series of pleasantries exchanged between Kim and Hwangae, the two states unified into one entity, taking the former's name. Kim prepares to muster a force for a conquest of Jeolla; meanwhile in the north, Kyongsong detects a weakness in the Pyeongyaeng force and decided to strike quickly, annexing the state by early 1420.
  • Monsoon Season: A particularly great monsoon season occured between 1417 and 1420, causing significant rain for sub-Saharan Africa, India, China, South East Asia and more, allowing for more fertile conditions for crops, but have also leading to absolutely miserable conditions in some places. In particular, the settlement Puerto Comercio, planned by Valcanor, faced such deplorable conditions that a significant number of settlers die to diseases and temperature. Coupled with difficulty in supplying for such a far distance, the outpost became quite literally uninhabitable, leaving the survivors to pack up and return to their homeland.
  • Styrian Revolt: Nobles of Styria under the leadership of Johann Neustedt rose up against Westria, claiming they have been neglected and deprived of benefits from the Archduchy. The rebellion aims to force Leon II to accept certain concessions that will give Styrian nobility more power, but if the original goal is not achieved, secession may be on the cards...
  • Fagal Dispute: After decades of haggling and small conflict, Sumari wrested control of the city of Fagal, ending the dispute (for now) while maintaining their share of control on the straight.

NPC Events[]

  • Ahuric Empire & Isetium: They see Arashena plowing through Qarshid lands, so the two allies decide to jump in on the fun. Isetium conquers Inbar and the Ahurics take Eridu and Grane.
  • Escosia: They intervene on a growing dispute between the states of Krakow and Eltbyrg, but they have their own solutions: annexation Krakow and Eltbyrg. However, heavy resistance results in Escosia only annexing southern Eltbyrg.
  • Helborg: Seeing their neughbours be devoured and other ex-Svartheimer states be conquered by the Atoumans they ask for possible military aid against the Atoumans from Avaria in exchange for an alliance.
  • Avaria: They agree to Helborg's proposal and make them their dependancy, basically vassalizing them.
  • Aretis-Songhai: They begin an orchestrated revolt in Oualata, massacring Ateuritists and non Ares cultists. They annex the city of Oualata and everything east of that.
  • Aoudaghost: They declare war on Aretis-Songhai and begin gearing up for a war.
  • Aethiopia: Through a royal marriage they annex Adal into their empire
  • Jiangsu: After receiving a lucrative offer, they join Wu as a province.
  • Genoa: They refused the deal, fearing Valcan monopoly on trade in the Western Mediterranean, plus seeing limited uses for access beyond the Mediterranean.
  • Maya: The city of Izapa and Palenque falls to Aztec forces, but their military managed to threaten Tehuantec. Should they manage to capture the city, it will cut off a considerable amount of Aztec military, encircling them.
  • Djenne: They agree for a trade route without going through Aoudaghost, under the condition that Ghana provide protection for the convoys going through unclaimed land.

Kingdom of Zimbabwe: []

  • Government: Despotic Monarchy
    • King: Muhamba I (1398-nowadays)
  • Economy: Great Zimbabwe, the flourishing capital of Zimbabwe, is an important trade centre of the region. The kingdom controls the ivory and gold trade from the interior to the southeastern coast of Africa. Arabic goods can be found in abundance in the kingdom. The Great Zimbabwe people mine minerals like gold, copper and iron. They also keep livestock. The kingdom taxes other rulers throughout the region. The introduction of slave trade also boosted the wealth of the rich.
  • Demographics:
    • Population: ~30'000
      • Great Zimbabwe: 8'000
      • Rural areas: 22'000
  • Diplomacy:
  • Events:
    • Rise of trade: in the last 3 decades, the size of trade has increased dramatically. Great Zimbabwe has become a major economic centre of the region. In addition, the trade with Arab world has become prominent.
    • Stone masonry: the stone constructions in Great Zimbabwe became more complex with the development stone masonry traditions and acquiring certain techniques from Arabs through trade. The most prominent building is the Muhamba palace, which had complex techniques and patters used.
    • Slave trade: as Great Zimbabwe becomes more and more influential throughout the region, the need of expansion and bigger workforce becomes very noticeable. Because of this, a few merchants began purchasing slaves that usually work on mines or pastures. In addition, convicts may choose sold as slaves instead of being punished.
    • Flourishing grass: thanks to the recent monsoon season, the quality and amount of grass increased dramatically. Thus, more and better food is available to the people.

Kingdom of Wanka[]

Wanka KDM 12
  • Government: Despotic Monarchy / Tribal Monarchy
    • Monarch:
      • Kukuri (r. 1391 - 1418) (b. 1355 - d. 1418)
      • Nayaraq (r. 1418 - ) (b. 1386)
    • Heir: N/A
    • Pretenders:
      • Pachacuti (b. 1409) (the world is trembling)
      • Few others are also competing for the title but the certain number of pretenders is unknown.
    • Population: 180,000
      • Wankapampa: 8,900
    • Culture: 100% Quechua/Chirip (...unless you want to subdivide the groups further down)
    • Religion: 100% Inca pantheon
  • Military: The military of Wanka or at least the rest of the Andes is primitive, but they are quite unorganised as there is relative peace within tribes and kingdoms of the region. Weaponry is quite primitive as swords are not a thing yet and are unheard of. However in Wanka, organisation and training was changing the shape as it is (hopefully) destined to unite the people and form the Inca Empire (or basically Wanka Empire). Below should total around 1% of the military roughly.
    • 500 spearmen
    • 400 slingers
    • 200 archers (bow & arrow ranged infantry essentially)
    • 500 axemen/clubmen
  • Wars and Conflicts:
    • War Against Ichma: (see Invasion of Ichma)
  • Diplomacy: N/A
  • Events:
    • Death of the King: Kukuri died on 1418 of old age, never accomplishing his ambition of invading Ichma. His chosen heir, Nayaraq succeeds to become the next leader, who he have made a decision to finally end the long drought of simply training and putting use of manpower into invading a small kingdom. Nayaraq doesn't have children so far as he has not yet found a mate, leading to his position to become vulnerable to others wanting to seize the position, including Pachacuti, though again, he is still too young to become ruler by 1420, at the age of just 11.
    • Invasion of Ichma: Under the new leader Nayaraq, the descent form the high mountains begin for many of the Wanka warriors, invading Ichma by surprise. It would be the first steps to uniting the (OTL Andean region), that the people of Wanka will become the ones who would unite the region under one single empire. At least 80% of the military is sent down to take on the settlement of Lima and integrate the Ichma people into the Wanka Kingdom.
    • The Choices of Nayaraq: Nayaraq believed that he could innovate some of the terrace farms and mountain routes to allow for troops to traverse. Making more obvious dirt paths is an activity done by few people, which should improve connectivity to small remote towns and allow for food from these farms to easily transport them through llamas and alpacas with a known destination.

Kingdom of Castille and Leon []

  • Government: Absolute Monarchy
    • Ruler (King): John II (1406-)
  • Economy: The economy is running quite well, the union helps strengthen the economic ties between the different kingdoms and the Beso is being used commonly in the large cities, assisted by the Banco Real, however, the commoners have much less to enjoy, with trade varying widly from village to village, and the feudal system obstructs almost all social mobility.

    • Albion - Mercs are continued to be funneled in to their war.
    • (SECRET) Pirates on the North African Coast - Valcanor is being incredibly scary, and they might soon be disturbing your operation, only being stopped by some well timed monsoons, if we give you this money, will you harass Valcanorese ships much harder than you usually do whilst also making your attacks minimal on ours?
  • Events
    • New Times, New Routes - Ever since the former Pagan states have been expelled out of the the Peninsula, trade has once again returned to the area, cities like Cordoba and La Coruna grow at high rates, as works of craftmanship, such as rugs and jars pass through from Europa to Africa.
    • And on that note . . . (Part 4) - By now the Beso is being widely circulated in the richest port cities and other booming areas, the Banco Real is also established on the model of the banks of Florence and so on, allowing for the well use of a currency, however, the peasantry still use the same forms of transaction as they've been doing so since forever.
    • Protect the Merchants (Part 4) - Henry III nearly stops ship production for the navy, at least for the moment, before being convinced to do so otherwise, he reluctantly allows for 10 Floating Fortresses and 15 Sea Falcons to be built
    • Learning from our Allies (Part 2) - By 1420, the archer's potential prowess is a well recongnized fact, drils run by independent nobles or commanders all display a deadly power, it is also at this time that arquebuses start trickling in from Albionses mercs, though they are incredibly small, being laughed out the courts as an "Obsolete Machinism of Fools", being only used by Mercs.
    • A very loud Bang (Part 1) - Gunpowder also starts circulating in, naturally, from Valcanor and Albion, as well as other places from the Medditerranean, whilst the "Cannon" is at the forefront of this new dawn, though it's use is limited by early impracticallity and scepticism, seeing only use as siege weapons and small mortars on some of the older Floating Fortresses.

Diplomacy

  • Burgundy
    • A continued northern assault is continued, with a naval invasion of Calais being prepared. All of this is done with the goal of pressing the French on multiple fronts, using their vast reserves to overwhelm the French on multiple fronts.

Events

  • Advent of an Era
    • Nicknamed “Le Tonnerre de la Mort” by the French, the Arquebusiers are infamous, with stories being passed through the French ranks of weapons with the power to kill a man with a bang. Though none have been captured yet, much like the American shotgunners of WWI, if any British Arquebusier was captured, they would be executed on the spot.
      • Even with the careful use of Arquebusiers, a few did suffer this grim fate.
  • Spring Offensive of 1410
    • Siege of Paris (1419): Though the troops are slowly beginning to get exhausted, King Henry and his son Lionel head the assault on Paris, surrounding the city in the summer of 1419.
      • From there, King Henry pushes East, to allow Lionel to siege the French capital without much fear of being flanked.
    • Battle of Calais (1418): It was early dawn when the English appeared near the city. Having been dropped off 25 miles away from the city, the city endured a bombardment from the sea, as it was deemed unsafe to land the cannons on the shores for risk of the equipment being seized by the French. Though inaccurate, it was enough to rustle the French’s nerves as the two forces clashed.
      • Though eventually, the British had to retreat from the city due to the relief force getting bogged down by the French, it served as a learning experience for the Navy. From this day forth, the idea of naval cannons were explored.
    • Battle of Agincourt (1419): A stormy day was set as a small English vanguard was caught off-guard by the Northern French Army. The English army primarily consisted of English Longbowmen and a few heavy infantry, as they faced off against some of the toughest French forces to date. However, with the use of terrain, spikes to prevent the French Heavy Cavalry from wreaking havoc among the English lines, and the fearsome English longbow, this lopsided battle ended with an English victory, which allowed the English to claim Calais and close off the French from access to the English Channel.
      • The British vanguard force involved was originally supposed to set up a forward base for the rest of the army to advance to, but the French got wind of the second attempt to claim Calais from an English defector, and attempted to squander the English's plans before they could come to fruition.
      • This battle also marked a turning point in the war, increasing English morale all across the front.
    • Ash I Joins the Fight: Leading a sizable force in the south, Ash I joins the war. Though he isn’t as gung-ho about going to war as Henry is, he wishes to end the conflict as soon as possible, and decides to reinforce the forces in France with the English reserve.
      • Once on location, he leads forces south of Orleans, leading an offensive to Limoges across a broad front in order to cover the southern flank of the force heading to Orleans.

    • The Start (1): Jan Bakker sat at his table in a normal house in the city. He should be sitting at a table in one of the castles in Holland. He is the son of the Duke of Holland. At least that’s what Jan thinks. A long time when the Duke was still a prince, he spent a night with a prostitute. And now the duke won’t admit he did that. He doesn’t have an extra son no one knows about. No just his seven daughters. SEVEN DAUGHTERS! Of course the duke wants a son. But he’s already past the age of getting children. And he just won’t admit Jan is his son. “And that’s why...” Jan said to his friends. “This is a great opportunity, Holland doesn’t have an heir, A collecive enemy: Burgundy. Easy!” Everybody at the table agreed. They shook hands. And that’s how the Verenigde Raad der Nederlanden came to be.

Nihon no Domei []

  • Government: Feudal Confederation
    • Empress: Uchiha Tomoko
    • Shogun: Kanzaki Izuku
    • Constituent Clans: Miyamizu, Fujiwara, Minamoto, Taira, Kangeinoshima
  • Economy: The Nihonese economy goes into total recession as clans close off their borders to all but declared candidates, fearing the implications of preventing possible successors to the Empress' throne. The death of the Shogun also inspires nothing but uncertainty; with many merchants beginning to flee to Syonan. This will not bode well for whoever comes into power.

  • Events:
    • The Fraught Victor - Beginning of 1416: With a vast majority of votes, Uchiha Tomoko becomes the new Empress of Nihon, securing a female primogeniture that has thus far persisted through the centuries. Given the authority to choose who would be her Shogun, she selects Kanzaki Izuku; Nishimiya allowed to become the Shogun's Vanguard, effectively a kind of co-leader. This garners immense support from the Navy and brings together the merchant class and military; temporarily stabilising the country...
    • Or not - I CALL FOUL! - Spring 1416: While Midoriya immediately swears his fealty towards the new Empress and her Shogun, with Hu Jin-Yo expressing minor disappointment but ultimately giving his support, almost every other candidate disputes the results; mainly because the authority in charge of the ballots refuses to say anything about who voted, how many voted, and questionable amounts of voters given numerous booths were burnt or suffered the impacts of rioting. The Race for Empress is over; but the Nihonese Civil War has just begun!
  • Factions:
    • The People's League: Founded by Mori Kyoko and her former partner, the League claims that the Clans' reign over Nihon is entirely illegitimate and believes that the age of traditional Clans must end if the peasantry are to see any return to prosperity. Throughout 1417-1419, The League raises mass uprisings throughout Tohoku, Kyushu and Shikoku against the new Empress and her Shogun, almost entirely made up of peasants.
    • Yamato no Domei: The Empress' faction, it believes that Nihon must adopt strict discipline and honor in order to restore Nihon to a great power. It controls almost all of the counry's Navy and a large majority of the Army, with its main power base in Tachibana.
    • The Outsiders: Under the control of Seishiro Kirie and Bakushi Yona, as well as major support from parts of Kangeinoshima, it believes that there is another way to restore Nihon to greatness, cooperating with the clans, the peasantry, the merchants via a new import - religion. From 1418-1420, it begins to prolesthyse a new form of Shinto known as 'Unity Shinto', which is far more centralised and with a greater emphasis on religious doctrine than before.

    • Others:
      • Princess Selina, 14
      • Prince Lazaro, 10
      • Princess Lela, 10
  • Economy: Valcan traders are starting to find their trade in Sub-Saharan Africa to be unprofitable, and most routes are abandoned, while the new ones stick to the coast. Though trade with states like Tlemcen and Valeris is decreasing, trade in other areas of the Mediterranean is growing. The Italian states, namely Florence, Sicily, and the Papal States, grow as trading partners, and we continue to send ships to Melita, Byzantium, and Isetium. Valcan pottery, wool, jewels and metals, and raw materials. Another sizable, though not as large portion of Valcan economy is farming. Many citruses are grown here, as well as tomatoes, olives, wheat, barley, rice, and peaches. Livestock herding produces significant amounts of beef and mutton, and fishing along the coastal regions also helps bring food to the people and add to our trade business.

  • Diplomacy:
    • Westria: We would be interested in becoming allies.
    • Tlemcen: As our routes in Africa began to disappear, Valcan traders have no reason to go to their old ally’s ports and trade mainly shifts away from Tlemcen.
    • Laszlofold: Here, have some more military equipment

Events:

  • White Traders from Europe, Part 4: A fierce season of storms and floods results in the destruction of Puerto Comerio, and the thousand or so citizens living there either travel back to Valcanor or attempt to leave for one of the growing African nation-tribes, never to be seen by the western world again. In contrast, the trade routes in the deserts of Northern Africa dry up (no pun intended) and grow barren, once again limiting Valcan trade almost exclusively to naval trade. (There, mods, are you happy?)
  • The Islands of the Cats, Part 3 (Finale): After a tense confrontation between the settlers of Gran Graciosa and Feles Islands and the native Guanches, the Valcan settlers decide to back off from the islands, leaving the natives to do their own thing, effectively changing nothing in their whole time in the islands except the presence of some new diseases. The Valcans returning to Valcanor tell stories of fifty-foot-tall waves, giant beasts stirring up storms, and vicious savages murdering the innocent. Western Africa slowly disappears from the map, existing only in old fishermens’ tales, and trade south of Rabat slows to a halt.
  • Quenching the Thirst for Inquisition, Part 3 (Finale): The Cultist armies, reorganized just outside of Murcia, clash with Valcan forces and are quickly driven south and out to the beach, where a rough battle occurs. Some cultists manage to escape on ships, but most are captured and sold into slavery.
  • Heir to the Throne, Part 4: Princess Selina, age 14, begins preparing for her journey to Westria, where she will be spending her time post-marriage.
  • A Big Bang, Part 2: In an experiment by some merchants, cannons are placed on a trading ship to add an extra layer of defense, but the cannons are too heavy and have to be quickly removed before the ship sinks. However, the experiment is more successful on a larger transport ship.

Lepai[]

  • Government: Tribal Confederation
  • Binanit’a’i: Atsa Bidzii (1391-)
  • Economy: As a  Semi-Nomadic people we farm maize, beans, and squash around the more fertile land around the San Juan river and Rio Grande.

  • Events:
    • A Royal Marriage: Binanit’a’i Atsa Bidzii agrees to the generous proposal made by the kind Kemahanans. Princess Dilyéhé is to marry Sikankanna.
    • Cities in the Mountains: A new architectural practice, having its roots in the pueblos made by the people of Dinetah, begins to take shape. People, particularly in the mountainous north, begin carving homes out of mountains, in addition to building them along hillsides.
    • Bronze Working: As our bronzesmiths become more skilled at working bronze, our jewelry and weapons become higher quality. The lack of tin is still and issue, forcing us to keep using arsenic bronze.

    • Population: 40,879
      • Tanacoma: 6,701
      • Pocahontocoma: 3,333
      • Utemaca: 2,075
      • Iyi Sipi: 725
      • Other settled towns and villages: 12,022
      • Nomadic population: 16,023
    • Religion: 27.3% Pocahontist (11,175 ppl), 73.7% other (mainly assorted Native American beliefs; 29,704 ppl)
    • Ethnicity: 22.8% Wisawen (9,331 ppl), 78.2% Miskawen (31,548 ppl)

Turn V: 1420 - 1425[]

KdM1420-1425

Mod Events[]

  • The White Snow Wolf: It has been long into the rule of the new Queen of Vestkyst, and by extension the Scandinavian Union, ever since Fiete Kjaer abdicated. She would thought to spend her latter days as an advisor for the younger Queen, as she still needed a lot to learn. However, her mind still lingers on Morgan's departure. She had little knowledge as to where he was going asides from France. She thought he would at least retire or found his own organization of Knights. Fiete was never so right yet ever so wrong. Rumors has spread to her of the return of a holy figure from long ago: Charlemagne. Fiete has held her suspicions, the actions of "Charlemagne II" (or Charles the Great the second or whatever) has strangely matched the behaviors of her old apprentice. It was about time she set off to find out for herself, she placed trusted new advisor in her place and set off in 1425 to find out who this Charlemagne reincarnate really is.
  • The Lost Man from Delhi (Part 3): At their prime adult years, the twin men by the name of Bahubaljeet and Baljeet set off to find out more about their past. In their travels they came to the capital of Delhi Azarkhate, the city was extravagant as any other capital city. The brothers were amazed at the beauty of the city, so they decided to try to settle there and take up a job. They met a nice older woman and a household with two girls slightly younger than the brothers. Both were curious of each other, and they even learned all kinds of things from eachother. They took up jobs as bodyguards, helping to guard delivering important cargo. One day, they overheard the woman talking about an incident long time ago, where there were rumors of an incident of the ruler of Delhi attempted to kill off all children of his concubines so they won't someday challenge his heir for the throne. During one cargo delivery, they found themselves attacked by bandits. Upon killing them they learned that these bandits were actually soldiers coming to arrest them. Why? They ask, what have they done? It was then they realize something about the cargo that they were holding: It was illegal cargo. A few of the bandits escaped, surely learning of their names after they shouted to one another. What have they gotten themselves into?
  • The Maid and the Drake (Part 3): Jeanne of Arc was 13 when she experienced her first vision. While she was in her father's garden, she would later claim to have seen angelic figures. In her vision, it was they who told her to drive out the British and save France from destruction. She said she cried when they left, as they were so beautiful. Meanwhile, Joan of Arc, taken up by British knights, have offered her to join them. At first, she was hesitant, being young and all, however she eventually accepted as she realized she had no where else to go nor a proper way home.
  • Hussite Wars Part II: The conflict continues with a figurehead priest called Jan Zelivsky gaining almost unlimited authority over lower class townsmen, but one of his Adamite style gatherings is surpressed by Jan Zizek, who had practically become the general of the Hussite forces. A Large HRE army enters Boiheim and sieges Zatec, but after an unsuccesful storming attempt with massive losses they're forced to retreat with the Hussite forces approaching. The battle of Nemecky Brod takes place where Jan Zizka delivers a decisive defeat to the HRE forces. With military victories bringing hope for the rebellious nation of hussite Boiheim, but discordance had begun to fester within their ranks.
  • Lam Sơn Uprising: With the insurrection more popular than ever, more men flocked under the banner of Lê Lợi, fighting against Wu puppet rule. The capital Huế was captured in a lightning campaign in early 1423, leading to a temporal truce with Wu. The truce itself was short-lived however, as sensing a moment of weakness in opposition forces, insurgent forces captured Thăng Long and Hải Phòng. By 1425, all Dai Viet territories above the mountainous Tây Nguyên region had been pacified, and Lê Lợi set to build up Thăng Long as the potential new capital of Vietnam.
  • Snaellander Annexation: After generations of vassalship, Snaellander was officially annexed into Vestkyst proper in early 1420.
  • Pirates of the Mediterranean: Due to possible funding from a regional power, Mauretanian and Algerian pirates have been running amok in the Western Mediteranean, causing disruptions to trade and movement on sea. Conspicuously, however, the nation that funded these endeavours, which is to remain secret, was safe from the raids, save for a few phony incidents staged to pretend that the event affects everyone.
  • Vinland: Traders along the river of Beul Munnurinn have done business with the people of Lake Stamaga (otl Lake Ontario) and they wish for a trading post to be established closer to the lake than Eyjasgaradh. They ask for the king to allow them to create a new town and earldom. King Keean gives them the right to settle and the settlers name their new town Rìghbærinn (otl Kingston). Some native Hurons were pleased with the creation of the town, but many see this as trespassing and the city faces many sieges for it's first four years and Vinland begins a campaign against the Hurons
  • Styrian Nobles: The nobles accept concessions from Leon II for now, keeping tabs on him in case the Archduke goes back on his word.

NPC Events[]

  • Ahuric Empire: During the collapse of the Qarshid armies they launch a new assault in the Hormuz strait to ensure economic dominance in the Persian gulf. They capture Hormuz, Shep, Ansban and Tiz
  • Aretis-Songhai: They continue their gory campaign against Aoudaghoust, taking the city of Koumbi and after the city's fall, all the well bodied men dead, the children are forced to decapitate their mothers or prisoner's of war and be baptized by their blood for Ares. Mass sacrifices are conducted in the city, with over two thousand women and children sacrificed for Ares
  • Aoudaghost: They have amassed their military and try to retake Oualata and siege the city, but the Songhai Aretist warriors return from Koumbi to break the siege. The Aoudaghost first army is encircled and destroyed
  • Kanem: They annex some smaller Kanuri tribes along their borders.
  • Atoumans: A brief war with the Empire of Chaldea resulted in the split the Atoumans annexing the middle between Sinope and Trapezeus.
  • Arashena: After years of conflict, they finally broke the Qarshid resistance and take over the Mesopotamian region, ending the war and any hopes of Qarshid dreams of western expansion.

    • And on that note . . . (Part 5) - The Beso starts gaining traction in the lands around the large cities, although the Banco Real is restricted to the cities and the peasantry have little reason to embrace it, leaving the Beso ultimately as a city thing, at least for now.
    • Protect the Merchants (Part 5) - The possibility of other nations attempting to seize these islands we have acquired is not something to sneeze at, thus 10 Floating Fortresses and 35 Sea Falcons are built.
    • Learning from our Allies (Part 3) - The arquebus gains power, both physically and politically as it's potential in use in large formations supported by pikemen is strong, being able to maybe blow apart a line of knights, allowing for more men to use this weapon. It's design is also slightly improved to be able to hit more acurately and with larger shots.
    • A very loud Bang (Part 2) - The cannon finds slight improvement in design, allowing it to be used in a better condition than previously, although it's still limited to small mortars on Floating Fortresses or siege weapons.
    • Oh Look, an Island! (Part 1) - With the pirates compliance now secured, the strategists of the kingdom took their eyes to the present day Canary Islands, where a possible chokepoint could be secured on anyone crossing the coast, the present day island of Las Palmas des Gran Canaria is settled with a small garrison of 150 Troops and a Floating Fortress.
    • Securing the Island (Part 1) - The garrison at the area, called Fuerte Solidaridad, on the aptly named Isla De Solidaridad is provided with provisions on a monthly basis, including arrows and new weapons, the natives and any traders may come or go as they please if they do not threaten the fort or the kingdom, the ship in the harbor is enough proof of what may happen to them if they dare attack. 100 natives and others decide to stay there.

There is some craftsmanship and maybe copper (but not really), but nothing that can be extended beyond metallurgy, which is an alien concept at that time. There is llama and alpaca herding as well, which gives the Inca some wool and transportation across the mountains with domesticated llamas and alpacas. With dirt roads being paved under the gaze of the Wanka Kingdom, connections with remote villages to large towns and terrace farms are soon going to be a standard.
  • Demographics:
    • Population: 251,000
      • Wankapampa: 9,000
      • Lima: 6,000
    • 700 spearmen
    • 500 slingers
    • 300 archers (bow & arrow ranged infantry essentially)
    • 700 axemen/clubmen
  • Wars and Conflicts: N/A (yet)
  • Diplomacy: N/A
  • Events:
    • Nayaraq's Ambition to the South: Nayaraq plans to conquer Chincha next after subjugating the Ichma people into the hands of the Wanka Kingdom. With a slightly larger army thanks to the absorption of the Ichma, he plans to raise levies and invade Chincha to take on a larger rival: Cuzco.
    • New Settlement Proposals: A settlement is proposed by Nayaraq where it would be the ultimate city that would be built dedicated to the gods. Gold mines are supposed to be bountiful across the Andes while building this settlement and that the Emperor or the Sapa will sit upon his own throne with his wealth going down all across the mountains. He believed this city will thrive one day as a cornerstone to worshipping the gods. Taxes and trade will also flow well into this proposed settlement. (Might build this into an El Dorado chain event since I'm making a bootleg Machu Picchu)

  • Events:
    • The Start (2): Ah, The Council is gaining members. Faster and faster. The main thing that keeps this all running. We need money for weapons. Higher class jobs. Everything. We now have a small militia, but the main goal we have now, is to earn money. Faster and faster, more and more. This will also get us closer to the dukes. When we kill the whole succesion line too. We wil become the leader. Then we can unite. FOR THE COUNCIL!

    • Dynasty: Ammagari
  • Economy: The economy of the Merina Kingdom is based mainly on agriculture and fishing, there's also some light trade going on with the Swahili and various peoples on the island. That's kind of, it, our economy is practically the same as many other primitive african states.

  • Events:
    • Hainteny, writer and speaker: Hainteny lives on a few more years doing all that thinking stuff before dying in 1423. He inspired many other thinkers and people in general and much of what he said, wrote and talked about became big parts of the Malagasy folklore and traditions. He was an inspiration so much so that the religion will go on to be known as "Haintenism" in the future. I mean unless I get murdered somehow.
    • Writing System - the Sorabe: From all this development and whatever, the Sorabe alphabet is created by another religious man: Tsilavohery along with assitance from his mistress Nyantsa. This not the Sorabe of the otl world because that was based off of arabic script and the Arabs haven't found Madagascar (yet) in this timeline. The alphabet starts being used to transcribe information more effectively as before, a different "alphabet" that was more complicated and more hieroglyph-like was used.
    • Military Innovations: Warriors of Imerina sport light leather armor (primitive of course) while wielding iron-tipped spears and this half-decade sees the first use of ox-hide shields for better defense. They see action in some minor conflict with raiders outside the borders.
    • Mahajanga: Continues to grow.
    • Ahem, I SAID some more expansion to the southwest: Self-explanatory, bitch.

    • Population: ~31'500
      • Great Zimbabwe: 8'000
      • Rural areas: 22'000
      • Slaves: ~1'500
  • Military:
    • Royal Guards: 2'000
    • Slave militia: 300
  • Diplomacy: further expansion to the north.
  • Events:
    • Slave trade: The number of slaves in Zimbabwe has greatly increased. Most of them are former convicts from other countries or those who went bankrupt. With the introduction of the slave trade, the rich became even wealthier.
    • Salt mines: on the newly acquired territories, salt was found, but in small amounts. However, the king thinks there must be more salt further to the north, so he sent his Royal Guards to conquer new territories.

        • Boiheim Heresy Threat: After the Hussites have defeated our armies we see them as a threat a big threat a very big threat to the whole empire something has to be done. Recruiting of troops have already began to face against the heretics. We want to directly intervene.
        • A Royal Wedding: in 1425 a royal wedding is held between Archduke Leon II and his new wife and now Archduchess Selina. Already a few months after the marriage Selina is expecting, hopefully a male heir to the throne.
        • Pirates hiring: It has become worryingly popular among the merchant elite to hire pirates to attack their rivals after giving them more rights.
  • Diplomacy:
  • Boiheim: We want to ask for your permission to directly intervene in your conflit and try to crush the heretics do you accept that?

Lepai[]

  • Government: Tribal Confederation
    • Binanit’a’i: Atsa Bidzii (1391-)
    • Economy: As a  Semi-Nomadic people we farm maize, beans, and squash around the more fertile land around the San Juan river and Rio Grande.

    • Religion: 100% Lepai Folk Religion
  • Military: No standing army, but we have 10,000 warriors, 6,400 of which use horses, which we are able to use in case of a war.
  • Events:
    • Rapid Expansion: The land south of the Rio Grande, once deemed useless, is now a great spot for grazing for horses and sheep alike. This prompts expansion into OTL Northern Mexico.
    • Population Growth: As the plague subsides, the quality of life rapidly increases, creating a boom in population.
    • The Binanit’a’i’s Paranoia: The Binanit’a’i becomes increasingly senile as he gets older, which causes him to order the construction of traps in and around his palace. These are meant to trap the enemy, not directly kill them to allow the Binanit’a’i’s forces to apprehend the intruder. However, many are still maiming, and can result in the victim bleeding to death if not found by others in time.

Kemahanacommacah Grand Confederacy of Kemahana[]

  • Government: Pseudo-feudal elective monarchy
    • Weroance: Moskatachaw (1384-1421),  Sikankanna (1421-)
  • Economy: Our economy is divided between a subsistence farming and a nomadic hunter-gatherer economy, mainly based on ethnic divisions. However, the introduction of horses (brought during the Exile) has revolutionized the process of hunting game, and cattle ranching and pastoralism has also begun to take shape, especially in rural peripheral regions. We are also beginning to see the very beginnings of urbanization, although much of the population is still nomadic or lives in villages with less than 200 people.
  • Capital: Tanacoma
  • Demographics:
    • Population: 47,239
      • Tanacoma: 7,025
      • Pocahontocoma: 3,505
      • Utemaca: 2,275
      • Iyi Sipi: 1,225
      • Kanatsasipi: 765
      • Nisinima: 512
      • Other settled towns and villages: 15,109
      • Nomadic population: 16,823
    • Religion: 35.3% Pocahontist (16,662 ppl), 64.7% other (mainly assorted Native American beliefs; 30,577 ppl)
    • Ethnicity: 29.6% Wisawen (13,975 ppl), 70.4% Miskawen (33,264 ppl)
    • Infantry: 500 (3,500 reserves)
    • Archers: 250 (2,500 reserves)
    • Cavalry: 100 (2,000 reserves)
  • Wars and Conflicts: N/A
  • Diplomacy: N/A
  • Events:
    • The Weroance Is Dead, Long Live The Weroance!: Weroance Moskatchanaw has passed away at age 68. In his place, his most favored son, Sikankanna, ascends to the throne. A notable diplomat and peace-lover, it is likely that the Kemahanan Kingdom will see great prosperity from his rule.
    • The Northern March:
      Northernexpansionkdm

Extent of the Kemahanan state circa 1425.

Throughout much of the late 1410s through the 1420s, Kemahanan farmers and ranchers would expand mainly to the north, incentivized by mineral deposits and good farmland. This specific period would be known as the Northern March, as settlers steadily pushed north.
    • You Can Never Have Too Many Traps: As more paranoia begins to circlulate around the nobility of rival nobles trying to steal their riches, more and more palaces and even summer homes and important temples are beginning to be booby trapped. The traps have also grown more elaborate, with a wide array of poisons, nets, darts, sharp spikes, and disorienting and narrow passageways being used.

      • Roundtable Knights (Elite): 8,050
        • These are Britain’s elite forces. A rebirthed version sprouting from Artoria’s original group of holy knights, this force has never lost a battle, and has unwavering loyalty to the crown and the Order of the Roundtable, willing to fight to the death for the survival of the British Isles.

      • Naval Vessels:
        • Dual-purpose Merchant Pre-”Ship of the Line” Warcogs: These ships are larger than the current English mainline warship, though the size was originally drafted to be capable of storing more produce and supplies within. However, with the increase in piracy in the Mediterranean, and the English’s interests in the area, these Merchant Cogs see an increase in armament, with prototype naval cannons being mounted onboard
          • Number in possession: 20
        • Pre-”Ship of the Line” Warships: These ships that came before the Ship-of-the-Lines. In essence, these ships had state-of-the-art hull designs with “primitive” armament; the English longbow.
          • Number in possession: 35
        • Dual-purpose Merchant War Vessels: Primarily functions as a merchant vessel that is more heavily armed than most merchant vessels, mainly to protect against pirates. In essence, these ships are normal merchant vessels, except with slightly thicker hulls and a complement of longbow archers onboard.
          • Number in possession: 80

Research and Development

  • Cannons: With the increase of piracy in the Mediterranean, the English begin testing cannons for use in naval engagements, with their implementation on English Warcogs being the test-run for the concept of naval cannons.
    • In addition, The English’s Pre-”Ship of the Line” Warships are also being armed with these cannons, though in fewer numbers due to their smaller size. That being said, the majority of these warships still use the longbow, since the cannons are still in few numbers.
  • Naval Vessels: Pre-Ship of the Line Warcogs are being drafted, mainly for increasing the nation’s trading capacity from sea.
  • Arquebusiers: New tactics are being drafted for Arquebusiers, to make better use of their equipment. For instance, one new tactic drafted has the Arquebusiers form into 3 rows, with each row staggering when they fire so a more consistent rate of fire among the entire unit can keep pressure on foes much easier than if they were to all fire together.
    • In addition, the Arquebusiers are well-guarded, with melee infantrymen always with them at all times, so if things get messy, the arquebusiers can retreat easily.

Events

  • Advent of an Era
    • Nicknamed “Le Tonnerre de la Mort” (The Thunder of Death) by the French, the Arquebusiers are infamous, with stories being passed through the French ranks of weapons with the power to kill a man with a bang. Though none have been captured yet, much like the American shotgunners of WWI, if any British Arquebusier was captured, they would be executed on the spot.
      • Even with the careful use of Arquebusiers, a few did suffer this grim fate.
  • Premature Signs of Victory
    • Strengthening the Frontier: An advance from Calais was made by the British that lasted a few months before getting bogged down. With this, the general of the northern army decided to dig in, creating a defense capable of repelling even a cavalry charge.
      • In fact, it was put to the test when a French counterattack was thrown at the English lines, where the Arquebusier made its own. Able to pierce through or knock knights off their horses as well as spooking the horses themselves, while the Arquebusier is a feared weapon used offensively, it was even more useful when used in defensive engagements, especially against cavalry units unfamiliar with these new “Thunder Cannons”
    • Ash I Southern Advance: Ash I continues his offensive towards Limoges, reaching the city by 1424. He then starts his attack on the city, leaving his elder son Ash II to watch over the siege while he attends to assisting other areas along the frontline that have run into snags along the way.
  • Mediterranean Pirates
    • With the news of piracy in the area, the English decided to increase the armament found on their merchant ships, leading to British Merchant Ships being mistaken for fully fledged warships.
  • The Drake of Paris (Precursor)
    • The siege of Paris dragged on for years, with Lionel unable to pierce the city. Eventually, he decided to just starve the city out and push further west, leaving a force surrounding the city to make sure no one gets in or out of the city anytime soon.

  • Diplomacy:
    • Wu [from the Outsiders]: Wu is offered a military alliance from the Outsiders should they support their rule over Nihon, as well as reparations for the killing of Wu officials in Kangeinoshima.
  • Events:
    • The Ransacking of Edo - Beginning of 1421: After a final attempt at preventing uprisings results in a mass burning bringing down thousands of homes, thousands of peasants from the regions surrounding Edo, particularly Yokohama, storm the city and burn down the dockyard, killing hundreds and pushing Imperial forces out of one of the largest cities in Nihon. The peasants, disorganised as they are, then reject the authority of Mori and instead declare themselves the Province of Tokyo, refusing outside help.
    • Battle of Kyoto - Spring 1421: Declaring the People's League and the Outsiders illegal organisations hellbent on removing the Empress, Shogun Kanzaki leads a 12,000-man-strong force to purge the city of 'subversive forces' when Hori signs a brief document condemning the system of clans in Nihon as 'inherently unfair and illogical'. This quickly devolves into a city-wide brawl where civilians and merchants hide in their homes whilst all around them cannons fire and peasants riot, burning down almost the entire commercial district around the river. The battle eventually halts when Kanzaki ups the force to roughly 30,000 men, quelling unrest; but sparking mass discussion in Yamato about the abilities of Kanzaki, whose first venture has been a miserable failure.
    • The Outsiders' Escape - Autumn 1421: Caught in the carnage in Kyoto, Seishiro and Bakushi barely escape, but not without Seishiro suffering a serious leg wound that requires permanent amputation; hundreds of loyalist forces sacrificing themselves to give them enough time to escape into friendly territory and eventually reach Hiroshima. The Outsiders officially rename themselves the Restoration Organisation, although the old name sticks essentially permanently; alienation is felt on the part of some of the Outsiders' Tohoku supporters.
    • Battle of Edo - Summer 1422: Attempting to overturn the shame of his first failure, the Shogun arrives in Edo and immediately quells the peasants in Edo with a quick iron fist, descending all at once and so rapidly that a tiny mixed 10,000-man strong force retakes the city in all but a week, securing control of the largest city in Honshu; the economic damage incurred from a year of largely lawless rule, however, means that the city has halved in population and largely become a partial ghost town.
    • Conscription of the Masses - End of 1422: After minor defeats and victories outside Yamato between the People's League and Yamatai forces, the upper echelon of the People's League, primarily spearheaded by Mori, pushes a call for conscription which ups the ranks of those within it by hundreds of thousands. This provokes a similar call from the other two factions, leading to a balloon in the ranks of all factions' militaries.
    • No Ships Welcome - Mid-1423: A series of raids carried out by tiny Outcast cells deny the Yamatai Navy landings in Kyushu and Shikoku; in those places, the Outcasts and People's League forces develop a live-and-let-live attitude towards one another, sometimes local clans helping to forment literal cooperation between the two factions while creating anti-naval defences. Political change is up in the air as well - in Kagoshima, for example, the two factions agree to a kind of agreement where both compete for places in the local government, a kind of pseudo-direct democracy at a time when monarchy is the norm in East Asia.
    • Siege of Osaka - Winter 1423: Yamatai forces dig in around the city of Osaka, which has remained a People's League stronghold since the beginning of the civil war; demanding the city hands over control to an Empress' representative. The bloody stalemate and siege that emerges out of this kills over eighty thousand people due to starvation and disease and turns Osaka from a city into a battleground with almost no civilians left, the rest having escaped into the countryside.
    • The Push into Tohoku - Spring 1424: The stalling situation in Osaka provokes a dissatisfied reaction from the Empress, who wants back merchants; threatening to cut taxes for all merchants and recoup the losses from her nobles, Uchiha orders an immediate push into the Tohoku landscape, a radical rush that scrapes across numerous old clans which have been ripped apart by the fires of war. The People's League puts up meagre resistance, unable to actually secure victories; however, morale remains high due to continuous attacks from Yamatai forces on peasants.
    • The Massacre of Niigata - Winter 1424: After a humiliatingly difficult siege, Shogun Kanzaki turns a blind eye to his men committing mass rape and beating peasants and merchants in the city to death; the resulting carnage so senselessly brutal the two factions in Tohoku come to a unified agreement to instead fight for themselves, as the new Tohoku clan, which implements reforms demanded by both parties, including peasant halls, mandatory education for all merchants, and supplying peasants with weapons when entering the military instead of having them bring their own. The war is set to continue into a protracted stalemate.
  • Factions:
    • The People's League: Founded by Mori Kyoko and her former partner, the League claims that the Clans' reign over Nihon is entirely illegitimate and believes that the age of traditional Clans must end if the peasantry are to see any return to prosperity.
    • Tohoku: Alienated by faction leaders fleeing to the West, the Tohoku clan was formed in order to guarantee peace in Tohoku forever; embracing Tohoku's old Ainu traditions as well as new ones, it aims to provide progress and prosperity for the folk of Tohoku. Whether its existence is tolerable to the other factions, however, is questionable.

Valcanor[]

    • Others:
      • Princess Selina, 19 (In Westria)
      • Prince Lazaro, 15
      • Princess Lela, 15
  • Economy: Though trade with states like Tlemcen and Valeris is decreasing, trade in other areas of the Mediterranean is growing. Due to pirate activity and the power of our navy, though, we might have to focus more on trade within the western half of the Mediterranean. Along with Granada, we impose some restrictions on access to the Strait of Gibraltar.

  • Diplomacy:
    • Westria: We’ll send Selina right over, treat her well.
    • France: Our troops should give you help on the Burgundian front.

Events:

  • White Traders from Europe, Part 5: Larger cities along the coast of Eastern Africa, namely Ptolemais-in-Cyrene, Tripolis, Alexandria, and Gaza, see more trade as Valcanor’s naval trade grows stronger and greater influence spreads throughout the Mediterranean. Specifically in Alexandria and Isetium as a whole, there is a large market for sweet citruses and prized Valcan wool.
  • Heir to the Throne, Part 5: In return for saving our bloodline, Princess Selina, now 19, is sent to Westria to keep their royal family pure and to strengthen our relations. (Wait, if she’s going to be marrying the king, then wouldn’t they already be related? The king would be her grandfather, right?) Princess Lela makes frequent appearances in the public, handing out food to the poor or playing with young children to show her generosity and increase her public support, while Prince Lazaro follows in his father’s footsteps and spends much of his time training for and with the military in Laszlofold, the Royal Palace in Valencia, or near the front lines of the Two-Hundred-Years’ War with other Valcan troops. Meanwhile, King Agustin III’s health is deteriorating by the day...
  • A Big Bang, Part 3: Cannons on a naval transport ship are successfully used to fend off pirates from a merchant ship. With this new innovation, new ships will soon be made specifically for military purposes.
  • The Secret Orchard: In orchards surrounding Barcelona and Tarragona, newer methods of growing oranges, limes, and lemons greatly increase production.
