Trivia[]

Contains spoilers, do not continue if you haven't finished the series.

  • Power is the theme of the series.
  • This series was mainly inspired by The Prestige and Primer.
  • Graxum, arguably the most important nation in the entire series, was originally going to appear at the end of IonMapping's NAFOE Season 2.
    • The name of Graxum was originally Graven, but it was changed to the current name.
  • Graxum and Ardumus' relationship was inspired by the Biblical tale of David and Goliath.
  • The series contains a lot of references to Greek mythology and Latin proverbs to fit with the Greek origin of Graxum.
    • Graxum is compared to Ares, the Greek god of war, bloodshed and violence.
    • Ardumus and the Eurasian Union play supportive roles in World War 3, similar to Ares' sons, Phobos and Deimos.
    • France is compared to Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom, courage and justice.
  • The French Empire is a reference to Nazi Germany. Both countries desire redemption and glory after their humilliating defeat in previous wars. The Stuttgart Agreement signed by the French Empire and South German Confederation is a mirror version of the Munich Agreement.
  • The idea for Graxum's immoral and almost sadistic personality was partly inspired by moral nihilism, and the idea that everyone can and will become evil when forced.
  • Similarly, being corrupted by power and hatred also plays a huge role in the series. This can be seen in the Stanford prison experiment, where when participants were given power over other people, they exhibited sadistic tendencies.
  • Most major characters in the series have their own way of dealing with power and the corruption that ensues.
    • Graxum embraces the corruption of power, desires it, and masters it.
    • Ardumus desires power too at the start of the series, but as he witnesses what power can do to nations, and the lines Graxum is willing to cross, Ardumus becomes wary of power.
    • The Eurasian Union is consumed by power, but he attempts to control it. Although the Eurasian Union also desires power like Graxum, he isn't willing to sacrifice his own sanity and morality for it.
    • The French Empire is consumed by power and hatred, without any attempt to control it. Believing that power is the only way to achieve his ultimate goal of revenge against not only Ardumus, but anyone in his way, he lets his own negative emotions fuel his resolve.
