The 6th CON summit will be held on 11th November 2018, in Gothenburg, Fielger. This is the second time when CON summit is hosted in Europe.

Host[]

Fielgerian President Trygve Sumessen called for a summit after the results of the 2018 Oslo independence referendum were announced. With a goal to decide on the location for CON headquarters and the new parliament building, the member states agreed to host a CON summit in Fielgerian city of Gothenburg.

Agenda[]

In October 2018, Sumessen unveiled the summit logo and announced key themes that the summit would conclude.

  • Find new capital for CON
  • Investing in growth
  • Working together on climate change and clean energy
  • Building a more secure world

New capital[]

As one of the founder members, the city of Oslo in Fielger served as the de facto capital for the CON since it's formation. It was believed that the city of Oslo would unite politically the Free City of Oslo and Fielger after Olso joined Fielger.

Soon after the Serum mails were leaked, Oslo saw many protests some of which were targeted on CON. Institutions and officials in Olso were temporarily moved to Bergen, staying there until the results of the independence referendum. When the independence referendum turned out to be favor for the independence, Trygve Sumessen and Friedich Bodenheimer began to discuss about moving the capital city of CON to somewhere else.

Symbols[]

Fielgerian President Trygve Sumessen has proposed to have common symbols for CON, as "to unite peoples and citizens of the Commonwealth". President Sumessen suggested that the Commonwealth should have an anthem and a holiday incorporated with CON.

The Commonwealth of Official Nations currently have three symbols: a flag, an emblem and a motto called "United Progress".

Gothenburg criteria[]

Laker human right activist Hannah Becker uploaded a trending video on YouTube where Becker stated that "CON does not meet the Principles of the Rechtsstaat and supports authoritarianism". Becker's video caused nationwide debate over the democratic basis of CON and even debate to leave the Commonwealth.

Steven Adams, the leader of Democratic Movement, urged the Leader Council to discuss about the member criteria of CON when the news about summit were released. Vandaysian journalist Maarten Wouters started to talk about the "Gothenburg criteria" how Wouters describes it as "A criteria where the member state requires to have institutions that preserve democratic governance and human rights".

CON Reorganization Act[]

CON Reorganization Act, linked to the Gothenburg criteria, aimed to remove undesired members of the commonwealth. Nations who rarely attend international meetings and do not support other members shouldn't be part of CON. This was the first decision that took place in the summit, since removed members couldn't attend it afterwards. This was done to prevent blank votes and unnecessary spending.

Criticism[]

Oslo separatists[]

Kristian Elgarøy, leader of the Oslovian ultranatonalist party Ny Akershus, stated that the 6th CON Summit is "degrading Oslo's reputation which is creating political and economic difficulties for the city state." Days before the beginning of the summit, protests by Ny Akershus took place in Gothenburg. Protests were attenuated by the Fielgerian police force.
